About Me

An Enigma. I am a free-spirited, bohemian, antinomian, and dynamic individual. Having my cliche quarter life and identity crisis as we speak and I need to see the world :-). I am hungry for experience, culture and new people. I am a person who loves to laugh and have deep existential discussions. I've been through a lot of struggle the past few years and now I'm at a crossroads and sort of in limbo. I need a societal detox and sabbatical. I just need a break from the corporate social engineering. Lets have some great times!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have a fresh passport with 0 stamps! Help me fill it up!

I guess in my head I've always wanted to be like an Indiana Jones or Laura Croft (Tomb Raider). I want to travel across the Sahara on camel back, meditate with Sandhu's by the river Ganges in India, explore the jungles of South America and southeast Asia. I want to be baptized in the river Jordan, kiss the Western Wall, make the great Hajj to Mecca, visit as many temples and shrines as I can. As I mentioned earlier, I am in my "who am I?" existential quarter life crisis and I need to explore and have an adventure. As unconventional as I strive to be, I live a very routine, mundane, corporate life and its time to get off the hamster wheel for awhile and get out of my comfort zone. My mother just passed away from cancer back in April and my life was completely consumed in her care for a very long time. So I want to explore the world in her honor and let her spirit experience it vicariously through me. I'm at a new chapter in my life and I need new experiences, new culture, and community. I am a very laid back and flexible individual. So my goal is to get away and rejuvenate to see what the next step is for me. Help me achieve this! My first few destinations goals are Jamaica, Belize, Bali, Utah (Zion National Park), and many Asian countries. I want to see beautiful landscapes, people, ruins, and food. If i am requesting stay in your area, that's where I am on the list. :-)

Interests

I love all things ancient. I've always had an affinity to esoteric philosophy. Since a child I've studied world history and religion in my leisure. I do not follow any specific philosophy but apply a piece of them all in my personal journey. Everything from occultism, Moorish Science, Alchemy, Islam, Gnosticism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Rastafarianism. Striving for enlightenment and a true authentic experience in all moments. Lets get deep bro! lol I also try to remain natural in most of my lifestyle. I am a vegetarian, I'm about 70% vegan. (working on that) :-)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I listen to all genres but my foundation is hip hop and R&B. Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, Nas, Bob Marley, Lupe Fiasco, and anything 90s east coast mafioso rap. Wu tang, The Firm, Mobb Deep, you know, all the gangsta sh** :-). Or really any music that was created in the 90s and early 2000s.

Movies: I love documentaries, comedies, dramas, and a little bit of horror. Favorites include: The Holy Mountain, Slumdog Millionaire, Bridesmaids, Samsara, any Indiana Jones movie, any Tomb Raider, Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2, Knocked Up, Life of Pi, Easy A, Juno, and many more. More of a music person than movies.

TV Shows; I do not own an Idiot Box, I mean a TV, but sometimes I'll watch Hulu or Netflix. Broad City, American Horror Story, Salem, Master of None, Will and Grace, Seinfeld, Always Sunny in Philadelphia, New Girl. As you can tell, I either like to laugh or be scared.

Books: I am an avid reader. The books I'm currently reading right now are: Mumbo Jumbo, The Sacred Drift, Americanah, and The Vegetarian. Again, I like more self help, spirituality, esoteric, and world history genres. I will read some fiction every once in awhile.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I finally converted to vegetarianism two years ago. This took me a few years to achieve. I am a firm believer in alternative healing in these times of death that the world is in. Between cancer and all the other diseases, we need to change our lifestyle to live a more fulfilling life. I do plan on becoming vegan. I have cheese every few days but I LOVE TO EAT.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: Being a Capricorn, I'm a natural counselor or psychologist. People love to come to me with their problems. Not that I invite them to but it just happens. Again, I'm love to learn, so I'm a house of random knowledge.

Learn: I need to learn new cultures and languages. Being a Black America (I'm really a mixture of a lot of stuff), we suffer from an identity crisis.

Share: I can share some insight on life in general. I've had my struggles. Se La Vie.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm not entirely sure what I can share but this can be discussed. I am very much a minimalist. I strive for a laid back, simplistic life. Love, Truth, Peace, Freedom, and Justice.
