I am 26 years old, and currently finishing my studies in Architecture. I grew up in Thessaloniki, Greece and lived till I was 19 and moved out to Volos where my studies began. For the past 7 years, I lived in multiple shared flats in various cities. I had both good and bad experiences, but I guess it all adds up in the experience to get to know what suits you, how to reach your ideal communal life, to learn your boundaries but at the same time respect others and letting them enough space to express themselves and learn from them.

In 2020, I moved to Istanbul for my Erasmus studies, unfortunately for me a couple of months later, it was the period of the covid outbreak, and we all had to face quarantine for the first time. I decided to stay in Istanbul and beyond the first months that probably were difficult for everybody, when summer finally reached my patience paid off, as I had the chance to have a road trip for a month to all west and south coast of Turkey, having some wonderful experiences and bonding with friends.
After my Erasmus, a post-Erasmus era began, where I was in a back-and-forth situation from Volos to Bolzano, Italy. As I was visiting the relationships I established in Turkey or they were visiting me.

Now in 2022, a new era starts for me, where I am having an internship in Vienna and hopefully I will be in the city for at least one year.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Honestly, even though I am a member since 2015 I never really used it. Though, living in shared apartments we always had guests from Greece or abroad from our close friends or even people that others suggested to us. So I was always embedded in the hosting and sharing culture where I would host guests in my house or I could be hosted in another city but it was always happening through my community.
Now that I am having a new start in Vienna without really knowing anybody here, I guess it's the right time for me to use this platform and see if the community can support me in this period and vice-versa.
