Enthusiastic, down to earth, adventurous, food addict, vegetarian, awareness.

A few words I would like to use to describe myself in a short way. There's so much to discover on our beautiful planet earth and so many people to meet!

My name is Vivian and I changed my life in November 2016. I realised I wasn't 100% happy so I quit my job. What I was doing didn't fill my heart with just happiness, it actually made me stressed and confused. I feel so lucky I was able to be aware of what was happening and what I was feeling, and was able to change my life for the better because of that.

I don't believe in the system our society wants us to live in. Go to school, take a loan to study, start working straight after because you have to pay that loan, get a mortgage, get another loan to get that fancy car, work all day to pay your study loan, mortgage and any other loans you have what means you don't even have time to actually enjoy all of your stuff...
No. It's not working for me. I want to be happy. Truly happy. I want my life to be filled with joy, with experiences and meet people to learn something new from. I don't want to be stuck in the system, playing according to their rules. I want to be free and decide to turn right whenever everyone convinces you to go straight. I don't want to be special, I just want to be happy!

And I have found happiness. Anyone who has ever felt true happiness will agree and will know what I'm talking about. It's the most liberating and most amazing feeling there is. You don't want to change a single thing about your life, because you're not daydreaming nor wondering how it would be. You're doing it, making your dreams come true and really listing to the voice within you.

Traveling has been very good for me. I've learnt so much. Not only about different types of food, different cultures and history, but also about myself.

The best part of traveling for me has always been the local people. They always seem to know everything about their place and don't mind sharing their knowledge :-)
Like my mom always told me: "don't talk to stranger", I now want to talk to every stranger. Everyone has their own beautiful story. There is so much to learn. People are so beautiful and generally have such a good heart. Whenever you need a bit of help or guidance, the best way is to get up to that stranger and start talking!!

Also I love food. I have changed to a vegetarian/vegan diet in June 2017. I'm not that strict though and don't mind at all if you do eat meat. I won't try to convince you of anything :-). I might even share some amazing recipes with you, because it's so easy and so tasty to eat vegan (and I love to cook).

Life is beautiful, let's all be aware of that and share it together!! I hope we'll meet soon!

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

The best experiences during my trip so far have definitely been with local people. I love to get to know a place trough a locals point of view. Even tough I studied tourism, I prefer to see the parts that aren't that touristic, to experience the real culture and learn about local habits, food and culture!

Also, whenever I go back home I hope I'll be able to give back to the community (like I could luckily do when I went home for 5 months last time :-)) !

兴趣

All the dogs you see on my pictures unfortunately aren't mine... I have this weird obsession with them and any stray dog I try to be friends with :-). How easy to give them some affection, water and food to make their day (and your own) a little better.

I'm not a party person. Once in a while I enjoy a crazy night out, but I much prefer to sit down somewhere nice to have a good conversation (with a beer/glass of wine)!

Music is a worldwide language of happiness! I don't have one favourite type of music, anything from upbeat to juice love songs I like. Oh and I'm way too excited about karaoke, even tough I'm the worst singer.

When I was younger I read a LOT of books. Then while I was studying I lost my interest in reading and didn't start until recently again. I have discovered I still love it, I just need to read books that really have my interest. The best books I have read recently: the art of happiness, the monk that sold his ferrari, the Davinci Code (and the other 3 books of the serie).

I'm not a big movie fan. What I do enjoy is watching documentaries! And every once in a while I enjoy a movie (I just have to try to stay awake)

Since January 2016 I have left my home and family behind. Ever since I have been traveling around and it for sure has been interesting. I love talking about memories and experiences so I can share them with you :-).

Also I love to cook, and want to learn about local cuisine. So maybe we can teach eachother some nice dishes?? I'll do the dishes :-).

I've also done a course to teach English, although I'm not too confident and have never taught before, for the ones interested I'll try to overcome my fear and teach you something!

Stories, a lot of stories. Also I will cook for you if you want. Do your dishes. Clean your house. I think it's very satisfying to give something back for the hospitality you offer!
Also, if I speak any languages you want to learn I can give it a try to teach you, I'm not a good teacher AT ALL haha, but always willing to try :-). BTW, I also know how to ride a unicycle (#randomfact), and I actually am able to teach you ride one haha!!
