Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Variety of experience!
I'm a current junior in college. While I enjoy the routine, I feel it's important to my personal growth that I stay out of my comfort zone. I want to challenge myself to encounter people, places, and situations that I would otherwise miss.
Interests
My interests are eclectic, but some big ones are:
- Hiking
- Cooking
- Thinkin' 'bout stuff
- Gardening: I run a sustainable gardening club, on-and-off.
- Urban exploring: "Ask me about my delinquency!"
- Teaching myself math: Yes, I am fun at parties.
- Analyzing music and art: I'm an amateur music reviewer in my spare time. *
I have a special place in my heart for all things weird. Music and food, especially.
* Don't see your interests in this list? Tell me about 'em! I like to think that I can appreciate any discipline. I find that even listening to someone talk about their passions is deeply enjoyable.

Music, Movies, and Books
- Music: Choosing your favorite music is like choosing a favorite child, but some artists I keep coming back to are Pinback, Bjork, Tycho, This Town Needs Guns, and- regrettably- Tyler the Creator.
- Movies: I have a strange blind spot when it comes to movies. Have barely seen any classics, even. I'm working to change that. In the meantime, I really enjoy "Blade Runner"- even the remake!
- Books: prefer nonfiction books about science/ math, and poetry.
- Podcasts: 99 Percent Invisible, The Allusionist
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Discovered a new species of virus
What I Can Share with Hosts
I like to let hosts and travel partners set the tone of visits. If nothing else, though, I make some killer rum balls.
Optional: impassioned rants about scientific literacy. :^)
