Hello! We are Jennifer and Farahnash.

My name is Farah. Actually Farahnash, but Farah is easier to pronounce, and what most people call me. It's originally a Persian name, and stands for 'happiness'. In the Islam it also means 'joy' or 'cheerfulness', and in the English language it actually stands for 'traveler'. My father came up with the idea to add -nash, so my name would stand out a little more, haha.
I was born and raised in the Netherlands, but my parents were born in Surinam. Their great grandparents were from India, so my roots lay somewhere there. My grandmother's grandfather was Chinese, so that makes me 1/16th Chinese, haha. My native language is Dutch, but I have some foreign relatives, with whom I've been speaking in English since I was small, so I can say my English is very good. I live with my grandmother and mother in Rotterdam. Furthermore I work as a barista in a coffee bar. Currently I am taking a break from my studies in anthropology. I plan to start again in September, because anthropology is an amazing studies! Until then I have some time to work and travel. I am very interested in other cultures, and different backgrouds, hence my choice of studies, and I love to meet all kinds of people.

My name is Jennifer. But most people call me Jenn/Jenny/J or anything else, my parents call me by my full name when I've done something wrong. So I always associate it with that and get startled when people call me with my full name.
I was born and raised in The Netherlands, but my parents were born in Indonesia. And my ancestors are from China, so I call myself a 'Chindo' (Chinese-Indonesian).
I have one sister and I live by myself in Rotterdam, but my parents visit me almost every weekend.
I love food, traveling and meeting new people. I got the travel bug from my parents, who wanted to take me and my sister everywhere when we were younger. Now that I've grown up, I want to explore the world for myself and experience new adventures.
Currently I'm in my last year of Med school and I have a few months off until my last elective.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We've been wanting to try Couchsurfing for a while now and we think it will be an amazing experience, that we will always remember. We are not just looking for a place to sleep (obviously that comes in handy ;) ), but also to meet fun and interesting people. We think it would be amazing to experience your lifestyle, eat where you eat and visit places you visit. And to get the ins-and-outs of a local, instead of just being a 'tourist'. So hopefully we get the chance to do all of these things with you!

Interests

We tried to describe each other and this is the result, haha :)

Farah:
Farah = Penguins and Penguins = Farah. She loves them! (She's sitting next to me right now and is wearing a penguin sweater and penguin socks).
Her name does her justice, she is always super cheerful and happy. I have never seen her really mad or when she tries to look mad it looks so cute haha!
She will become an excellent anthropologist, because she has great observation skills and an insane memory. She will remember small details of the little quirks you have. Her hobbies include boxing, everything Harry Potter, movies, tv shows, reading, stalking people and going to different places to eat food.
Farah's life mission right now: finding Leonardo Dicaprio, marry him and have his kids.

Jennifer: does not like to be called Jennifer. Only her mom does that. When she is angry with her (but I automatically call her Jennifer, so everytime her face is like panicking-mode :)). Jennifer loves to travel, when she talks about all her travels and experiences, she can get anyone in a state of wanderlust. During her travels and just daily life she loves to meet new people; she is a very social person. If you don't like her, it's probably you, not her ;). Furthermore her hobbies include surfing, snorkling, eating (and rubbing her belly afterwards), watching tv-series, getting tattoos, that mean something special to her, trying new hair (last time it was pastel pink, blue and green, and she basically looked like an unicorn, and right now she is constantly wearing a beanie because the hair is in progress) and much more! She is also a very smart person, and in her last year of med school. And her intelligence is noticeable in conversations, because she has her own opinions about everything, plus she is a great listener! Overall she is just an amazing person. Bye.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: We can enjoy almost everything. From classics and jazz, to hip-hop. Farah actually went to see a show of Drake.. but not for Drake.. no. The Weeknd was the supporting act, and that was her sole reason, haha.
We are movie and tv show addicts. Name any TV show and we know about it or have watched it or have an opinion about it.
FARAH IS A DIE HARD HARRY POTTER FAN. (But you already knew that, so she's just being annoying now and basically ordering me to write it down (with the sectumsempra curse hanging above my head)).
We both like everything Marvel related, LOTR, everything Disney and Ghibli.
Jennifer read all the hunger games books, but thinks the movies aren't that great. Farah loves them....... and the books... and Jennifer Lawrence.
Farah is in love with period dramas. Downton Abbey is life, and she is always in the mood to watch Pride & Prejudice. Actually anything Keira Knightley, because she is great in period dramas.
Basically we have a lot of interests, too much to sum up haha!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveling, because when you travel you experience a lot of different things, discover yourself and meet a lot of great people.

Teach, Learn, Share

Farah can do latte art! (Well sort of haha!) and can speak English in a British-Indian accent.
Jennifer does a lot of jaywalking.
