Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I learned about couch surfing from Tomislav Perko while watching his Ted Talk and reading his book. I have a great interest in traveling the world, especially by boat and I want to meet different people from around the world to share stories and experiences.

Interests

I really want to travel and experience the world while also being able to give back and help people to achieve their goals. I am a strong advocate for being environmentally conscious while still being able to enjoy the outdoors without leaving a trace.

Music, Movies, and Books

Basically any musical showtunes, jazz, classic rock, lately into Roma Swing. Love comedies and adventure movies, especially things like the Banff Film Fest. Mainly adventure books about great expeditions into remote places on the globe, currently reading 1000 days of spring.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I guess the most amazing thing that I have done is to move from New York to Washington by train, buy a boat, and single hand sail it all the way up the puget sound using an antique compass, and a set of paper charts. Survived a drunk with a knife, two engine failures, and dense fog.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to teach people about sailing, mountaineering, geology, and anything else random that I know. I love learning about differences in culture and food, especially food! I love to cook and am very passionate about my cooking and food. I also love to listen to peoples stories about their lives and their travels and be able to share my own stories.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my knowledge of boats, cooking, and all things outdoors, while also hosting guests on my own personal sailboat.
