关于我

Hi!
My name is Eeva and I'm an 18-year old Estonian girl. I live in Tartu, which is the second biggest , but in my opinion- best, city of Estonia. Tartu is quite small and has only about 100 000 residents, but it's a cosy place to live in. There is also much to do here for young people, as Tartu is a university town and filled with both Estonian and foreign students.

I'm currently in high school, which lasts from the age of 16 to 19 in Estonia. Graduation is still a year and a half away, but I think I'd like to study medicine after finishing high school, most likely also in Tartu. I also think I own a pretty good sense of humour, but opinions may differ on that.

I will also upload some photos in the coming weeks once the weather gets warmer and it becomes possible to take photographs outside.

Mostly for selfish reasons as, being 18, I still live with my family, which makes hosting other people quite difficult. Nevertheless, if anyone ever happens to come to Tartu, I'd be happy to show you around and if you really need a place to stay and don't much care about comfort, offer you a mattress on my floor to sleep on.

I'm here because I've always loved travelling and seeing new places. The problem is, I'm not very fond of being a tourist- going to a couple of more famous locations and getting dragged along by a guide. I'd rather see places as a resident does- visit locations that might not be so well-known, see alternative clubs and whatnot. Also, being young, I always travel on a tight budget and thus am not too particular about living comfortably in a hotel- it's much more interesting and practical to stay with actual people.

兴趣

I have always had quite a few strange hobbies. At first glance, the strangest is probably LARPing- short for live-action roleplaying. If you'd like to find out more, I suggest googling it, but long story short- LARPing consists of dressing up in weird clothes and beating other strangely-dressed people with sticks. It's fun, I promise. I also like tabletop roleplaying (dungeons & dragons etc) and board games, but I'm quite new to the scene.

The rest of my hobbies are the ones most people have- I love reading books, listening to music, watching movies, spending time with my friends etc.

音乐、电影和书籍

I listen to most music genres, but there will always be a special place in my heart for older/classic rock and metal. To name a few bands: The Smiths, Bowie, Sabaton, Metallica, The Doors and so on. As far as Estonian bands go, I'd recommend the folk metal band Metsatöll.

It's even harder to list my favourite movies as I've seen many and liked quite a few. The most nostalgic movies for me have to be "The Lord of the Rings" - I grew up with the movies and books. I've been watching many sci-fi movies and for example really liked "Brazil", "Moon" and "Blade Runner". As for comedy, pretty much anything Monty Python goes.

I learned to read when I was about three years old and haven't stopped since. For the last few years, I have been too busy with school and other obligations and can't read as much, but I've instead tried to focus on quality rather than quantity- trying to read the "classics" and more difficult books. I am still at the beginning of the journey of becoming a well-read person, but so far my favourite genre has probably been magical realism (try Bulgakov's "Master and Margarita" or Marquez's "100 Years of Solitude", for newer authors perhaps Neil Gaiman).

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I can play the recorder with my nose.

In all seriousness, I've most likely done some quite cool things, but it's always hard to remember any when being asked like this.

教,学,和分享

I'm always ready to teach people some Estonian phrases or Russian insults. I can also share my limited opinions on politics, literature, history or music and try to keep up an interesting conversation.

I'd love to learn new languages, or at least cool phrases, and pretty much anything about the culture and history of different places. I'd also be thankful if you could teach me some more card games and anecdotes and recommend some good local bands.

我可以与沙发主分享些什么

I can share my accumulated knowledge of 18 years, 11 of which I have spent in school. I can sing to some extent, but would rather not, and play quite a few instruments on a really basic level. If asked ahead, I'll gladly bring my hosts some black bread or vodka, but there aren't many other Estonian culinary marvels to be shared with the world. I also make pancakes that are considered quite okay or even pretty good by some.
