About Me

I'm Adam, My traveling partner is Gabby! I spent the first 22 years of my life in upstate New York. After graduating uni my partner, Gabriella and I took off for a year of teaching English in South Korea. After returning to the USA we spent 3 years traveling around in our car and working seasonal jobs 6 months at a time. This allowed us to see so many beautiful places and travel as a way of life. We lived and worked in 5 different states Alaksa, Arizona, California, Colorado, and Oregon. We even lived at the world famous Grand Canyon for 6 months. Since leaving America last September, we've been living in Asia for the past 9 months. Next year, we're planning on taking a group of Digital Nomads on a trip around the world, so our primary travel focus is discovering great locations from a local perspective. We're super laid back, neat, respectful people. We also run a travel blog, you can learn so much about us there. LocalNomads.com

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Although we've traveled a lot, we've only surfed with friends. I hope that won't turn you off from wanting to host us...We love meeting new people and sharing cultural experiences. We believe that you can experience a place the best by connecting with locals and experiencing the local culture. You can't really learn anything from a hotel room.

Interests

My primary interest is long term travel! I'm obsessed with learning, and I believe that travel is one of the best ways to learn. Each new place I visit offers me the opportunity to broaden my worldview, learn things I would have never though to learn on my own, and see/smell/hear/ and touch all of the things a guidebook or the internet can't show me. Gabby and I love nature and seize every opportunity to hike and backpack together. Over the past year I've been learning a lot about the travel blogging world as well as improving my skills in photography and video production. We've been living in Asia for the past 9 months, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam are all places we've called home.

Music, Movies, and Books

We're huge fans of live music, especially the improvisational type! Phish, Grateful Dead, My Morning Jacket, Twiddle...etc. I watch a lot of movies, especially if it's one that makes me think a bit. My favorites include anything by the Coen Brothers, Paul Thomas Anderson, or Charlie Kaufman among others. I love to read books about travel and culture, currently reading Vagabonding by Rolf Potts, Walden by Henry David Thoreau, and Leaves of Grass by WW.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing I've done is hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon while working at the Grand Canyon National Park.

Teach, Learn, Share

We've got lots of travel stories to share! Gabby is a great photographer, and I'm still learning. We're interested in video production and writing as well, so you may have the opportunity to be a part of one of our videos or appear in one of our blog posts, if you're interested. We're planning a trip around the world for Digital Nomads, so if you work online maybe we can travel together in the future.

What I Can Share with Hosts
