About Me
Hi! I’m Nurhan from Istanbul.
I moved here when I was 17 and the city basically kidnapped me. At this point I don’t think I know how to live anywhere else. Istanbul is chaotic, dramatic, loud and slightly irrational… so we get along very well😁
I work as an ICU nurse, which means my work schedule is mildly insane. My shifts are usually 24 hours long. After spending a full day in intensive care, my life philosophy becomes very simple: work hard, play hard and occasionally sleep😴
When I’m not working, I travel. What I really enjoy about travelling is the strange way it brings completely unrelated people together for a brief moment. One evening you’re sitting at a table with someone whose life is completely different from yours, and yet for a few hours you share food, drinks, opinions, jokes and bits of your lives.
Then everyone disappears back into their own worlds again.
I like those temporary intersections. They make the world feel both incredibly big and strangely small at the same time.
🌎
I’m into football, horse racing, nature, animals and sports. I also enjoy what I professionally call “alcohol poisoning with best friends”, which usually includes long conversations, good jokes and questionable life decisions.
I cook, I read and I used to paint (you can see some of it in the photos). I’m curious about almost everything: history, politics, art, opera, theatre… basically anything that makes life less boring. I like knowing a little bit about many things so I can have random deep conversations at 2am.
Sometimes I disappear into my own world and enjoy being completely alone. Other times I want to be surrounded by good people, good food and good energy. A healthy life probably requires both.
I’m social, open-minded and easygoing. When I meet someone new, I try to leave my prejudices at the door. I prefer discovering people slowly rather than putting them into neat little boxes in the first five minutes.
I also genuinely love Couchsurfing. Over the years it has given me some incredible friendships around the world.
For me it’s one of the best ways to understand a place. A guidebook or a museum can teach you a lot, but spending time with someone who actually lives there teaches you something completely different.
And there is something very comforting about knowing that in many cities around the world you might already have a friend you simply haven’t met yet.
That’s honestly what Couchsurfing feels like to me: friends you just haven’t met yet.
PLEASE
If I don't know you, don't send me a friend request
Do not text me without any purpose, like "Hi!"
If you wanna hang out with me you can text me but i am sick of copy paste request, at least you can write my name in your message and you can explain why you wanna hang out with me.
I also share one funny thing about my natives, Why are you speaking with me in English? Kinda weird.
And finally it is not tinder, if you are looking for a date, please use another apps.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
