About Me

Hi there!

I have a passion for meeting people from diverse backgrounds and expanding my knowledge across a wide range of interests. I'm intrigued by everything from physics and philosophy to the arts, including theater, literature, and dance. Politically, I lean quite to the left, and I cherish the opportunity to share perspectives and learn from others.

Although I adore Spain, where I was born, my curiosity drives me to explore and understand the vast world beyond my homeland. This journey helps me gradually dismantle my preconceptions, enriching my view of the global tapestry.

Currently, my work schedule is quite demanding, making it difficult for me to host as often as I'd like. Nonetheless, hosting is something I deeply enjoy and look forward to doing whenever possible. I love the experience of connecting with people from different cultures and backgrounds, building bridges of solidarity.

And just so you know, I'm not a bad cook either!

I look forward to many more enriching exchanges and the chance to learn from each other.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is the best way of travelling, since it allows you to meet local people and travelers. Sharing experiences, talking, laughing... is the best way learn about a country or a culture (and make good friends!).
I've always found very kind people while couchsurfing, so I want to create more valuable memories.

When I travel I don't like to plan meticulously. Sure there are things I'd like to visit, but I prefer to adapt myself to the situation. So, if you suggest something, almost everything will seem a good idea to me!

Interests

Over the years, my interests have evolved significantly. While I initially had a deep passion for physics, after several years immersed in research, I find myself somewhat disenchanted with the field. My focus has shifted towards the humanities, particularly philosophy and contemporary dance, which now fuel my passions. I remain broadly interested in the arts and am always eager to learn more about various forms of creative expression.

Currently, I am working towards completing my PhD in physics. My long-term goal is to transition into education as a high school teacher, where I hope to support and guide teenagers through their formative years.

I continue to enjoy physical activities like hiking, sports, and cycling, and I cherish the simplicity of traveling light—with just a pair of boots, a few books, and a notebook in tow. When I travel, I am keen to immerse myself in the local political and artistic scenes, striving to understand the culture and current conditions in depth. I recognize that these areas are complex and often filled with gray areas.

My approach to engaging with different cultures is conscious and deliberate, aiming to avoid a colonial or Eurocentric perspective. I acknowledge that there is still much work to be done on this front, but I am committed to learning and growing in this area.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a wide taste in music, enjoying everything from classical to heavy metal. Some of my favorite groups include Tool, Gata Cattana, Baiuca, Nujabes, Agar Agar, and Pink Floyd. Their music ranges from progressive rock to electronic and hip-hop, and each has a distinct style that I really like.

For classical music, I love listening to Tchaikovsky, Erik Satie, Rachmaninov, and Debussy. I've also really gotten into the minimalist sounds of Steve Reich and the ethereal vibes of Arvo Pärt, which offer a nice balance to my playlist.

When it comes to books, I'm drawn to authors who make me think differently about the world. I enjoy Nietzsche for his deep dives into values and morality, and Michel Foucault for his insights into power and knowledge. Eva Illouz, Frantz Fanon, Ursula K. Le Guin, and Karl Marx are also on my reading list, each bringing unique perspectives that challenge conventional thinking.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I prefer to tell them myself :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm open-minded and reflective, and I really value deep conversations. I enjoy listening and getting to know people—understanding what drives them, their goals, and how they view life. While I love sharing ideas and learning from others, I'm also quite independent and adaptable, so I appreciate some time to myself as well.

Cooking for others is something I find enjoyable, along with exchanging stories, discussing different worldviews, or playing board games. And if you're interested in languages, we're in luck! I'm fluent in Spanish, French, and English, and I've just started picking up German and Italian, so I'd be thrilled to learn more with your help. :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

When staying with hosts, I'm very adaptive and always eager to experience the city as locals do. If my hosts are up for it, I’d love to go out with them and explore their favorite spots, especially those beyond the typical tourist areas. However, I also value independence, so there’s no pressure to entertain me if you’re busy or just need some downtime.

The most valuable things I can offer in return are engaging conversations and my cooking skills. Sharing and comparing our worldviews is something I find deeply rewarding. I always strive to be respectful and clean, adapting to the norms of the place I'm staying at, and I'm truly grateful for the hospitality.
