My name is Shayna, and I am, in essence, a free spirit. My love for travel began at a very young age, when, at 3 months old, my parents took me on my very first road trip. The road trip tradition continued on every summer afterwards, and soon it became my dream to embark on my own road trip as soon as I was old enough. After graduating high school I traveled around the west side of the country for nearly a year through national service program AmeriCorps NCCC. The travel bug I'd caught was satiated for a bit, and I returned home for an eight month hiatus. Soon plans began to spark for my next journey: a job as a seasonal community member at Omega Institute for Holistic Studies in upstate NY.

I'm on Couchsurfing because I travel often but think it ludicrous to spend such large amounts of money on hotels and motels a mode of housing that will isolate you as tourist. I find it much more enriching to stay with a local to gain a better understanding of the place in which I'm staying and possibly a friend as well.

兴趣

I love spending my time behind a camera, taking snapshots of the world around me. I find solace in yoga and journaling. Music always sets me free.

My music taste is quite eclectic ranging from Tame Impala, to the Talking Heads, to Bob Dylan. Favorite movies include Almost Famous, Labyrinth (with David Bowie, another favorite of mine), and just about any cheesy 80's chick flick (Say Anything, When Harry Met Sally, etc.)

I completed a ten month term of service with AmeriCorps NCCC. Accomplishing over 1700 direct service hours in under a year.

I'm more than willing to teach others what little I know about permaculture, as well as learn more about it. I'd also love to expand my knowledge of photography and yoga, and I hear you can learn a great by teaching others what you know :)
