I'm 22 year old adventurous South African / American student who grew up in Cape Town. I'm moving to the US to study at Georgia Tech in Atlanta starting August 2018. My current mission is to explore as much of the United States as I can while I'm there, and hopefully meet many interesting people along the way.

I'll be spending most of July and August in California and I'm keen to spend the time exploring. I've always wanted to see the Pacific Northwest. My preliminary plan is to fly from LA to Seattle and then take the train to Vancouver and Portland (would love any input on this idea). I would prefer using Couchsurfing for a place to stay over hotels because I love meeting new people and sharing experiences. Also, I'm a student coming from an African country with a much weaker currency than the dollar - I can't really afford anything else! :)

Some of my favourite travel memories include:
- Roadtripping from LA to San Francisco and back on a shoestring budget
- Living in a tent next to the Zambezi river in rural Zambia for a week
- Watching the sunset and full moon rising over Cape Town from Lion's Head, South Africa
- Surviving an earthquake in California

South Africa is one of the most amazing and diverse countries in the world (and super cheap to visit) and Cape Town is still, in my opinion, the most beautiful city in the world that I've ever been to. I can share local knowledge, history, travel tips and so much more.

I will be moving to Georgia late August and should be able to offer a place in my apartment on the Georgia Tech campus for my hosts to come stay in return if they decide to visit Atlanta. Perhaps more interestingly, I should be able convince my family and / or friends back home in Cape Town and Stellenbosch to take in my hosts as Couchsurfers for a few days if they do decide to visit South Africa in the future!
