About Me

Hi!
I'm a freelance video maker living in Japan for 13 years. I'm from Holland originally.
I live in Kamakura now, near the ocean, but I have also lived in several places in Tokyo. I mostly host, but would like to gain more experience as a guest as well!

I love trying new foods, hiking, the ocean, watching movies and Netflix, any kind of alcoholic drink, my folding bicycle, photography, and the occasional travel of course!

My work mainly consists of making promotion videos. A lot of them are for tourism in Japan. Besides that promos for Japanese companies. I used to do a lot of filming and photography, but these days I'm more focussing on editing, directing, and lately some producing.

Also I'm sometimes starring in the video!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Just to meet interesting people and to help out. One of the mostly interesting things about travel is meeting fellow travelers. To have that come to your home is quite unique.
Maybe one day I go traveling and couch- surfing myself, so it would be good to know how this goes, but for now I host mostly.

Always interested to hear interesting stories about where you are from, or some travel advice.
Ask me about Japan, or give me some tips as lots of travelers are going to places here where I haven't even been yet!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I guess having lived 13 years in Japan is the most notable thing about me, I went to many places in the country to do photo and video work.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've done a lot of photo / video related work, let me know if you need advice!

I speak Japanese but not well for someone who's been living here so long, I still study it from time to time.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm good with many cameras and video editing software.
I can also make some simple photos of you (depending on what kind of camera I have with me).

I know quite a lot of Japan, sort of... haha

Depending where I am coming from I might be able to bring some Japanese snacks :)

And of course come to stay at my place in Kamakura!!
