I'm a Chicagoland native studying Mechanical Engineering at Northwestern University and pursuing all things jazz on the side (performing, listening, generally being enthusiastic about).

When time and money permits, I enjoy visiting non-Chicagoland places to catch up with friends, take walks in local neighborhoods, learn about the place I am visiting on Wikipedia, befriend natives, and find local jazz venues to be enthusiastic about jazz at.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

Initially, I joined solely to find free housing in the cities I visit. After learning more about Couchsurfing, however, I realize that it has attributes outside of being economical that align with my preferred style of travel.

I have tended to stray from visiting the tourist attractions of an area I'm visiting. Rather, I enjoy connecting with natives, comparing and contrasting our experiences living in different parts of the country, and trying to understand the culture and spirit of an area.

In the summer between my freshman and sophomore year of college, I studied music for a month in Havana, Cuba.
