About Me
My name's James. I'm 25 years old, and I am becoming an English teacher so I can travel the world and learn new languages! I've been interested in languages and culture since I was a little kid, so I finally found a good fit for a career.
I'm originally from Spokane, Washington, I went to South Carolina for my undergrad to play volleyball, and then I moved toward home to go to Washington State University for grad school.
I love volleyball, cooking, seeing new places - pretty much anything active or novel. Not much of a drinker, but I still go out.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Traveling is so much better if you do it like a local. I'm looking forward to meeting cool people and doing new things. Hopefully I'll get to know your city how you know it!
I currently live in a spacious 2 bedroom apartment in Nanchong, Sichuan, and it is partially furnished. I would absolutely host anyone looking for a place to stay in Nanchong, but I only have a bed in my room. The floors are tile, but I have two thick blankets and a sheet I can give you to stay in the spare room. They specifically don't give us couches in this complex to discourage us from having romantic guests.

Music, Movies, and Books
I've gotten more into reading for pleasure lately in my life. I like post-apocalypse-style books, like the Maze Runner series and the Hunger Games.
My favorite show of all time is Alias. I also like Friends, Family Guy, The 100, How to Get Away with Murder, Scandal. I like movies but I don't watch a lot of them. Spy movies are the best!
I have an eclectic music taste. Hip hop, bachata, reggaeton, classical, pop, EDM, trance, trap - whatever.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
For my 25th birthday last March, I went skydiving! It was great, and I would do it again in a heartbeat.
Teach, Learn, Share
People tell me a lot that I have some different perspectives, I have kind of a unique way of thinking. I love learning about other people's lives and cultures - and culture between the regions of the USA are definitely quite different.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'll teach whatever I can. I really love to cook, so I can share my knowledge of that. I'm becoming an English teacher, so if anyone wants help with English, I can be your guy. I've had some travel experience and I'd love to talk about travel with my hosts!
