About Me

Hi everybody!! I’m Giovanna, I’m Italian but I’m currently living in Portugal with my boyfriend. I come from a little village in the South of Italy.
I’m a family doctor so if you have a sore throat you can write me (joking XD).
I decided to be a doctor because I love helping people and I try my best to keep the suffering away from their lives.
I like to listen and ask questions, I’m a very curious person, but I also enjoy talking!
I think that every human being is a treasure and has lots to teach, if you have the patience and will of listening.
I’m a very healthy person: I like to wake up early, do sports, eat vegetables... Ah, and I also don’t drink, don’t smoke and don’t use drugs ( but I’m not boring I swear!)
I have a passion for languages: I speak Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, English and French; I’m trying to learn German but I honestly suck with this language :P

I try to live a minimalist life: I hate to buy useless stuff and I never keep an object just because it reminds me of something... Material stuff have no importance for me at all.
The only think that I collect are plants! I love to be surrounded by nature and my house is slowly becoming an urban jungle and I love it. <3

I like to meditate and practice yoga, I try to enjoy the present and not be bothered by the regrets of the past or the fierce of the future.

I love traveling but during university I didn’t have much time to do it. I have travelled a lot around Europe and this is my first time in Thailand.
When I travel I try to avoid touristic places, I prefer to explore nature but I also like to visit museums cause I’m very fascinated by art.
I enjoy spending lot of time in the same place, for me traveling means to try to deeply know a different culture: the food, the music, the traditions... I hate to change city every couple of days just to show to others that I have travelled a lot and that I have an interesting life.
I lived two years in Spain and one year in Portugal.

I love to travel by foot: I’m a fan of “slow tourism” and I think that only when I walk from a place to another I can enjoy every single step of the journey (and it’s also a very healthy and eco friendly way of traveling )

PS: I’m not looking for dates, (I’ve already got a wonderful boyfriend) just looking for people to share my trips with :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think that the concept of Couch Surfing is brilliant.
Traveling with locals is the best way to really know a place and I'm traveling solo so through CS I can easily find friends and not be by myself all the time!

Interests

I love traveling but untill now I didn't have the time and money to do a long distance trip, I chose to go to Thailand because I think it's quite a safe place to start traveling solo.
I love nature and non touristic places, I really enjoy watching sunsets.
I like reading books more than watching TV series (but sometimes I get addicted to a TV series and spend 8 hours in front of the computer to finish it as soon as s possible and go back to real life again).
I love to study! History and Philosophy are my favourite subjects and I always try to read books with an historical background.

I practice ( or try to practice) mindfulness, I do yoga at home and go to the gym everyday.
I love photography and bought a Camera but I think I'm not talented...
Since I was little I always went to dance classes and I have tried many styles of dance but my favourite are contemporary dance and forró ( brazilian dance), I would like to learn Lindy hop ^^

Music, Movies, and Books

Here some of my favorites books:
-From animals to gods, sapiens : a brief history of human kind by Harari
-Siddhartha or any other book written by Herman Hesse
- Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
- Angela’s ashes by Frank McCourt

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have done the “fisherman’s trail” : 7 days walking from a village to another on the west coast of Alentejo in Portugal watching the most amazing sunsets of my life and with nothing but the ocean at my side.

Teach, Learn, Share

I always like to learn new things, in particular I like to practice and improve the languages I know.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can teach Italian and Spanish, how to cook a perfect pasta, how to dance salsa or forró.
I can treat you if you are sick!! XD
