Overview
About Me
Hello, I'm Wesley, STEM teacher in secondary school in the ghent area. Finished my masters in bio-engineering @ Ghent University
I'm quite a calm and easygiong person, with a passion for dancing, especially folk or lindy hop dancefloor! I give classes and even did competitions two times, getting a second place once. :) I've done most of the major festivals in Belgium as a teen, if you're interested, I can give some pointers on the possibilities. I enjoy cycling, getting to know new people and cities, cooking together, doing different kinds of sports, board games,...
I don't drink, smoke nor eat meat, but I know some tasty vegetarian dishes.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I starting hitchhiking back home after missing the bus, this made me catch the adventure bug. So I went on a first long distance hitchhiking journey to Utrecht in the Netherlands.
I'd like to visit more of Europe, starting with hitchhiking to cities in the countries surrounding Belgium. Later I'd like to go on a Cycling tour through Europe.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: primarily Jazz, Funk, RocknRoll, Blues, Swing, Gypsy jazz, Disco... All things danceable! I can appreciate almost all genres, from dubstep to metal.
Movies: Dead Poets Society, Good Will Hunting, some Polish comedies, ... I'm a big fan of Robin Williams! Many more movies, but these were the first I've thought about.
Books: Loved Harry Potter as a child/teen, the Game of Thrones audiobooks, usually Fantasy. I mostly read non-fiction though, when reading. Didn't read a lot due to the amount of material to go through during university.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've been to Ethiopia to gather data for my masters' dissertation. It was a large step out of my comfort zone, my first time travelling alone and my first time outside of Europe. The two months had their ups and downs, but the experience was life-changing. Adapting to a totally foreign culture, working in the fields, seeing all the hard work that the locals perform by hand, ... Made local friends and european friends. I've grown a lot as a person, and I'd gladly share some stories if you would like to hear them :)
