About Me

I am a primary school teacher living in Melbourne. I love being outdoors and enjoy spending my spare time hiking, snorkelling, kayaking. I also play traditional Scottish and Irish music on the fiddle and I am somewhat obsessed with the bagpipes.

I am easy going, considerate and respectful and love getting to know new people and learning about different cultures, lifestyles and customs. I enjoy sharing conversation and laughter (particularly over a beer or coffee).

I am going to be travelling around Scotland during 2017 and would be keen to meet up, especially with people who also enjoy the outdoors or traditional music.

Unfortunately I am not able to host other travellers until I move out of my current apartment next month (October) but would love to meet up with people and do some sight seeing/hiking in the meantime.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Music, Movies, and Books

Traditional Irish and Scottish folk music- Wolfstone, Bothy band, planxty, lunasa, tannerhill weavers, the scott wood band, daimh. I also enjoy listening to pipe bands.

Pop/rock- maximo park, the futureheads, frightened rabbit, the view, the coral, the klaxons

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spontaneously kayaking on a crater lake in the Tasmanian alps the day after a big snow storm. We walked the kayaks through knee deep snow to get to the shore and were rewarded with spectacular views and the unforgettable sound of breaking through the ice on parts of the lake which were frozen over. We also got to glide peacefully past wallabies and pademelons as they came to the edge of the lake to get a drink. One of the most beautiful, tranquil moments of my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would be happy to teach violin/fiddle, some simple phrases in Indonesian, highland and Irish dancing. Also could probably teach some geology and botany too.

I would love to learn new tunes on the fiddle and I would also like to get better at snowboarding.

I would like to share stories, music, meals, my home and outdoor adventures with others.

What I Can Share with Hosts

When I am in Melbourne I can share a couch or spare bed, meals, and drive surfers to my favourite places in Victoria. When I am travelling I can share my music and dancing, my passion for the outdoors, my baking and porridge cooking skills and my winning smile.
