Hi! I'm Kat, let’s be friends! After traveling full time for six years I’m finally back in my hometown Atlanta, Georgia! The experiences and knowledge I’ve gained from these years of travel are priceless. I teach ESL at a school in Atlanta, and all of my students bring me so much joy. I love playing guitar and piano, singing, hiking, cooking, kayaking, languages, trying new foods (I am seriously a huge foodie), dancing, nightlife, beaches, mountains, and coffee. I live here with my amazing girlfriend Vanessa who also loves to travel, and we have a lot of travel plans in the near future.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Being able to stay in a stranger’s home, or hosting a stranger in your home is a beautiful thing. The cultural exchange of Couchsurfing is my favorite part, and I have learned so much from so many wonderful people around the world. To me, it is very special to be able to enter a new place and automatically have a friend there. I am so excited to be able to meet more people around the world who share the same love for travel as I do, who are passionate, open-minded, and loving.

Interests

I am always changing my hobby. At the moment I enjoy long walks, fashion, and music. I don’t think I’ve ever said “no” to a night out. I love dancing, especially Latin dancing but also Scottish country dancing. My favorite drinks are beer, tequila, and wine. I studied music for a couple of years and like to play guitar, piano, and ukulele. I have a kayak that I’m in love with, and I love running, hiking, animals, biking, discovering new hobbies, journaling, and swimming.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite music is always changing. What I currently like? Cumbia, French pop, jazz, and country. I love quite literally any genre of music or movies, but I’d say that thriller and comedy movies win. I like to read books on feminism, anthropology, spirituality, and geography. If you have any movie/song recommendations feel free to share. Teach, Learn, Share

I am currently learning Portuguese and would be open to learning any language. I am an English teacher and would be more than happy to help you with your English and/or Spanish. Throughout my travels through the Americas and Europe, I have many stories to share. I’d love to invite you to a coffee/tea/beer/meal or whatever you’d like. Food is my main love language. 😉 I enjoy discussing anthropology, history, feminism, dismantling the patriarchy, spirituality, astrology, and hearing everyone’s different plans and goals on how they want to learn and expand in life.
