About Me

My name is Judith, and I am 30 years old. I come from Palencia, a small town in the north of Spain. It's not very famous but it has a particular charm. Its cathedral, for example, has the nickname of "the Beautiful Unknown". But now about me!

I'm a very open-minded and easy-going girl. After finishing my masters degree, I moved to Germany and have now been here for 5 years. I came here to do a European Voluntary Service year at a children's home, and after that I decided to stay longer to work in the social field and also as a spanish teacher at a community college. In my freetime I like being with friends. My hobbies include sports, books and films – but my passion is travelling :-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love travelling and meeting people from around the world. I think the best way to get to know a place is through the locals who actually live there. People are the essence of a place, and the ingredients that make each village, town, and city special.

Two years ago I had my first experience in Couchsurfing. It was in Cusco, Peru. Julio was a very nice host. He showed us, among other things, the nightlife in Cusco and recommended to us some wonderful hot springs, which were located just outside of Cusco. We spent two nights with Julio and then started hiking toward Macchu Picchu. Because we had heavy backpacks, Julio allowed us to leave some things at his place and pick them up later. That was very kind of him.
After that, I have done Couchsurfing many more times.

I had heard many good things about Couchsurfing before I experienced it. Now I can claim that Couchsurfing is incredible, each experience different and each Couchsurfer unique. That's why I'd like to continue to be part of this amazing community.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I love spanish bands like Vetusta Morla, Supersubmarina, Dorian... I like listening to different styles of music depending on the moment and situation.
For dancing I like Latin rhythms :-)

Films: Havana Blues, Binta and the Great Idea, the trilogie: Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, and Before Midnight, Across the Universe, etc...

Books: Baztan trilogie (Dolores Redondo), "Todo esto te daré" (Dolores Redondo), "One Hundred Years of Solitude" (Gabriel García Márquez), "El corazón helado" (Almudena Grandes", "The shadow of the wind" (Carlos Ruiz Zafón", Khaled Hosseini's books...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The best experience of my life was "Ruta Quetzal", when I was 17. Ruta Quetzal is a cultural and adventurous trip across countries in Latin America. I was lucky to partake in this trip because I shared it with other young people from around the world. I learned a lot from them: new ideas, points of view, customs... just fantastic! I would recommend this experience to everyone.
