About Me

My name is Steve, I am an Englishman in his early 50s. I have been living and working in Poland for the last 20 plus years.

My long-suffering girlfriend (now wife) Ania and I got married in August 2020 So I have moved from my previous location in Swarzedz to live with Ania in our new flat right next to Malta Lake and very close to the centre of Poznan

I love my job; I teach English to adults and teenagers at a local private language school, a local private high school and privately to companies and individuals.

Ania has her own CS profile but has never really used it. She is also an English teacher.

I like to think that I am a very open minded and tolerant person. I am interested in the individual rather than their component parts. My political leanings are right of centre and my atheism doesn't stop me from respecting the beliefs of others.

Ania is similar to myself in that she is also open minded and tolerant and is of course a beautiful, warm hearted soul. We both enjoy cooking, baking and making homemade nalewkas and other alcohols.

I love my adopted country Poland and the Polish people. It is a country of practically every landscape and terrain, we even have a desert!!! Poles are very hospitable and have a fascinating culture and long and rightfully proud history. The weather is also considerably better than the UK. Polish cuisine is delicious especially for meat eaters. Unfortunately, they also have one of the hardest languages in the world to master and that is the excuse I use for my terrible Polish even after all these years of living here. :)

You can find us on WhatsApp, Telegram, Skype, Facebook, FB Messenger, and Viber.

With regards to making final arrangements with guests we prefer to use WhatsApp after confirmation of stay on CS. We will give you our direct contact details after you confirm your stay. WhatsApp allows for much better and instant communication.

Many guests like to bring their host a small, token gift, this is always appreciated of course, we have a lovely collection of such tokens in the spare bedroom to remind us of each of those guests. Sometimes guests ask if there is anything particular we would like and this case our answer would always be TEA (or maybe a fridge magnet). We love tasting teas from around the world and sharing them with our friends, students and guests. From a no-no perspective I am diabetic and although I love chocolate, I really shouldn't eat it so please don't tempt me.

If you are not really a traveller, not on a journey, not catching a flight but are just looking for a free place to sleep while you try and find other accommodation because you want to live, work or study here in Poznan then please do not contact us.

Music, Movies, and Books

When and if I listen to music, my tastes are varied, heavy rock, classical, trance, opera, ambient, pretty much anything other than reggae, house and rap, oh and of course disco polo unless I am at a wedding after quite a few drinks.

Movies, war, sci-fi and fantasy, documentary, costume drama and pretty much anything else could be good, even romcons.

Books, hmm, I love reading a good story, my Kindle repeatedly threatens to bankrupt me. Varied flavours of science fiction, historical fiction, biographies, some fantasy, warfare, history, political and courtroom drama are my favourites although I will read other genres as the fancy takes me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Two, being there to see each of my beloved children born.

Teach, Learn, Share

Well I am an English teacher and am always happy to share my language and what I know about it. I would love to find out about your experience in life and to share some of mine.
