Overview
About Me
Hi there! I'm a Montreal-born, Texas raised Canadian with a passion for design and music.
I currently study Industrial Design at Université de Montréal, and in my spare time I'm always doodling, thinking up new and bizarre things ranging from experimental musical instruments to impractically-dangerous extreme sports equipment.
As for music, I play (listed here in order of most proficient to least): atomic guitar, euphonium, banjo, bass guitar, and mandolin. I'm always down to learn to play a new instrument, even if I know I might never be particularly good at it. On this list are french horn, theremin, erhu, and piano.
I am a big fan of taking things as they are. Sometimes, you just have to accept that there are some things you can't change and that's okay. Perfection doesn't exist, and we're all just trying to get by.
I'm only just getting started with my worldly travels. As much as I love Montreal, I'm tired of the city life, and I want to get out into the wilderness every once in a while to give myself a breather.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
As a student, I don't have much spare cash haha. I also love to see a city from a local's point of view, since they often know things that a website or a guide book won't tell me.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm a big fan of Kurt Vonnegut, currently powering through his bibliography (I've finished Slaughterhouse Five and Sirens of Titan so far). I'm also a pretty big fan of science fiction, whether it be literature (love Joe Haldeman) or film (big fan of original films like District 9). A few standouts:
Slaughterhouse Five - Kurt Vonnegut
Old Twentieth - Joe Haldeman
Incendies - Wajdi Mouawad
Music wise, I like mostly anything, but I'm a pretty big rock fan. Anything with guitars and a groove, really, but I'm also into jazz, funk, a bit of electronic and hip hop. I just like good music. A few examples (in no particular order):
The Mars Volta
Rammstein
Blink-182
Chromeo
Lettuce
The Dear Hunter
Bloc Party
Eric Whitacre
Porcupine Tree
Muse
Death From Above 1979
Battles
The Shins
HAELOS
Pendulum
Daft Punk
Gorillaz
CHVRCHES
La Roux
Kanye West
Medeski, Martin, and Wood
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've recently started building my own electric guitars! I'm on number 4 as of the time of writing this.
Teach, Learn, Share
I know a decent bit about historical linguistics, so if you've ever wanted to know the influence of the Norman Conquest on the development of both English and French, you've come to the right place!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can try to teach you some guitar or help you with your French if you'd like. Otherwise, I'm a pretty decent conversationalist.
