Overview
About Me
Hello, my name is İsmail – polyglot, educator, global citizen, genderqueer (crossdresser/trans) and curious mind. I currently live in Mannheim, Germany, where I work as a university lecturer for English and academic skills. I’ve also taught German as a foreign language and have worked internationally with students from all over the world.
I was raised multilingual (Turkish–German), studied in London and Boston, and I’m passionate about intercultural dialogue, deep conversations, and exploring the beautiful complexity of people and places.
My friends say I’m warm, generous, and full of stories – and I believe that humour and empathy are universal currencies.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing is a beautiful reminder that hospitality is a shared language. I'm here to connect with inspiring people, exchange ideas, and experience cities not through guidebooks, but through real lives and conversations. I believe that travel becomes more meaningful when it creates shared memories. 🌎💫
Interests
I love traveling and cooking! Also, I’m interested in international relations and politics, history, foreign language teaching, e-learning, AI, and technology.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Living in London, Istanbul and Boston were one of the best times in my lifetime. I made a lot of amazing memories! Additionally, working with international students has always been a great experience. 😍
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you German, English, or Turkish; help you with pronunciation or even academic writing.
I'd love to learn more about your language, your city, your cooking skills – or your philosophy of life.
Let’s share laughter, meals, long talks, cultural wisdom – and maybe some silly pictures/snaps too.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I bring with me stories, wine, cultural curiosity, playlists, home-cooked meals, and a deep respect for your space. I can also cook for you, help organize your bookshelves alphabetically, or recommend the best coffee in town. ☕
