About Me

I am an outgoing person: I like meeting new people and knowing about their interests, but I also like spending some time on my own.
I enjoy reading (current affairs, especially sustainable development, fiction and poetry), yoga, meditation, playing the guitar (but I am still a beginner), listening to music, especially acoustic (but I find David Gilmour's electric guitar unique), going for walks, above all in unspoilt natural landscapes, cooking and going out for a drink and a nice chat or to listen to live music or to the movies, theatre or museums. And I love traveling and getting the opportunity to know about new cultures, traditions and history "on the spot". More over, I like volunteering in cultural events and after-schools with kids and young teen-agers and I am planning to go volunteering abroad with an NGO.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've recently found out about Couch surfing and, since the travel bug has got me after having spent 4 months in beautiful Ireland a couple of years ago, now I cannot but go with it! So I am traveling to France (Paris and Eastern regions till Lyon and then back to Italy) next week and I'd like to descover it with the help of locals. I am sorry I cannot host guests at the moment but I'd love to, as soon as I find a little place of my own.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Mumford and Sons, Ben Harper, Of monsters and men, The Lumineers, Pink Floyd, Italian songwriters (De André, Battisti), Nina Simone, Ed Sheeran, Paolo Nutini, Future Islands, Alanis Morissette

Movies: Studio Ghibli and Miyazaki, movies with a good message like Pay it forward or A street cat named Bob but recentely I cannot find the time to watch many movies: I sometimes go to the cinema where I really appreciated, for instance, Coco and Captain Fantastic.

Books: Haruki Murakami, Italian journalist Tiziano Terzani, Jonathan Safran Foer, John Fante, The never ending story, Italian writers like Carofiglio or classics like the books by Italo Calvino, Pasolini or Sgorlon, some French writers like Izzo or Fred Vargas and I'd really like to read Simone Weil, poetry by the Italian writer Montale, or by Szymborska, Neruda or Emily Dickinson. And I'd really like to find the time to read more of what I studied at school in the original version (concerning philosophy and literature)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was in Ireland and the season was over, there was no bus to go to the National Park of the Burren so to visit it I cycled ten hours in two days with no training at all, pushing the byke when the beautiful Irish hills were just too steep for my legs.
But the most amazing thing I've ever done it is beginning practising meditation, that has been a real life-changing amazing thing!

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach Italian, some yoga and meditation and some simple guitar, have good conversation on humanistic subjects and share some recipes.
