About Me

Hi! We’re a couple from Ukraine — my name is Julia and my husband is Alex. We’re both passionate about meeting thoughtful, open-minded people and believe that travel is not just about places, but also about meaningful connections. I work as a psychologist, and Alex is in IT (doing something mysterious but useful — like most people in IT!). We know how precious it is to find a safe, welcoming space while on the road — that’s why we’re always happy to host fellow travelers, listen to their stories, and share a bit of our own.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We believe that one of the most valuable aspects of travel is the people you meet along the way. Couchsurfing gives us a chance to create those connections, whether we’re hosting or visiting. It’s not just about a place to sleep — it’s about sharing ideas, laughter, food, and life experiences.

Interests

We’re curious about everything and try not to limit ourselves to one category of interests. But here are a few things we genuinely enjoy:
• I play piano and love music that tells a story
• Deep conversations about life, psychology, or just absurd fun
• Exploring new cultures and ways of living
• Cooking (and eating, of course)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most powerful and life-changing experiences we’ve had is being forced to live in different countries because of the war in Ukraine. It’s a journey we never planned — full of uncertainty, loss, and learning — but it taught us how adaptable people can be. We’ve rebuilt our life more than once, started from scratch in new places, and discovered strength in each other and in the kindness of strangers. This journey has given us a deep respect for resilience, and we’re always happy to share what we’ve learned with others going through their own transitions.
