56 years old traveler who cycled from Holland to Malaysia (my present place where I live is Penang).

I came originally cycling via Turkey Iran and China and via south east Asia finally in Malaysia. Spend almost a year in Turkey, Iran and Pakistan. Further spend a year in India, Nepal and Bangladesh.

I do primarily hiking tours on Penang Island and working on 3 books about hiking in Penang with a total of about 70-80 different trails.

After 13 years in Penang I am at the point of generating more awareness for the Penang Hill in the form of doing more intensive hikes in the more remote areas of the island.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm still sorting out what I can do with it but I am always curious for stories from travelers from other countries, especially in countries I haven't been (still plenty).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

You might not expect it with an island the size of 25 by 15 km (Penang) but I got lost in a remote area of the hills in Penang, notably not far from Batu Ferringhi. Had to spend a night in the forest. So despite a small island, you can get in some serious problems if you are in the wrong area.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My biking/cycling experience on the road. The road goes on forever, the story never ends. Meeting people is what matter when traveling, the sights are the cherries on the pie. My most wonderful experiences on the road come typically from tiny villages in areas no tourist come.
