I’m Vicky , originally from China, I moved to Kiel, Germany in late 2021. I own a talent agency in Shanghai, but these days I’m semi-retired and spending most of my time exploring the world.

I travel whenever I feel like it — my schedule depends on when I decide to return to Germany or China to spend time with my family.

So far, I’ve visited 37 countries… and counting ✈️

Although I’ve been traveling frequently since 2018, my “official” world-travel chapter truly began in 2024 🤩

I travel to experience different cultures, collect stories, meet interesting people, and build genuine friendships around the world.

Apparently I’m not very good at “collecting countries” — because I keep going back to the same ones to see my friends again 😄 I’m genuinely proud to say that I’ve made real friends in each country I’ve visited. They’re the reason I often go back instead of chasing new pins on the map.

I’d describe myself as very open-minded, super easygoing, lots of fun and pretty cool~ And and and I’m surprisingly good at playing pool 🎱 haha.

But but but… I’m sorry (but not sorry) — I’m not into nudism 😄

Hosting & Surfing

When I travel, I’m looking for a private room and someone to hang out with if our schedules match. I enjoy meaningful in-person conversations much more than online chit-chat .

❣️ I don’t do online chatting with strangers.
When I’m home, I focus on family. When I’m traveling, I focus on being present — either exploring with locals or enjoying my own space. I reply to messages out of politeness, but I don’t do random long online chats.

I don’t mind doing a voice or video call though 😊

I’m very easygoing and rarely get offended. I love spontaneous conversations about almost any topic.

❣️ I’d appreciate it if you wouldn’t ask about my travel plans — I don’t really have any! 😆 I’m not much of a planner.

I love going to places I haven’t been before, trying things I haven’t tried, or sometimes just doing absolutely nothing at all. I’m very spontaneous , I travel based on feeling, not fixed schedules.

❣️ I’m happily married.
I’m great company for a few hours or a few days as friends/travel buddies. But I’m not single, not looking for romance, and not interested in anything intimate. I also won’t adjust my lifestyle to fit someone else’s vacation expectations 🫢

My Home in Shanghai

I have a spacious 3-bedroom apartment on the 18th floor (with elevators), about a 3-minute walk from the nearest subway station.

When I host, I don’t expect anything in return.
You don’t have to hang out with me.
You don’t have to cook.
You don’t have to entertain me with stories.
You don’t even have to talk if you’re exhausted from traveling.

I simply offer a comfortable, safe place to sleep — for free.

If we end up sharing stories and laughter, that’s wonderful. If you just need rest and quiet, that’s perfectly fine too.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For me , what interests me about traveling is not only about where have I been to , what have I seen , but what amazes me more is those random nice people whom I met, talked with and smiled back to , and the unexpected connections I built with them , short but beautiful.

I have met many great people from CS, some of them became life-time friends.

I have met many crazy people, but I appreciate those experiences too . They make life more colorful. I truly believe all kinds of personalities make this world a more interesting -and more fun-place.

I’m always fascinated by how differently people choose to live their lives. Everyone has their own story, rhythm, and way of seeing the world -and I love witnessing that.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I used to stay in a castle for 2 weeks in the U.K in 2010.
I saw hundreds of dolphins hopping in the sea in 2008 in Maldives.
I traveled 1300+ km to get my 3rd tattoo in 2019.
I went to Coldplay’s concert in Berlin in 2023.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach : Chinese language, a positive way/different perspective to see things and feel happy from what you have .

I can’t really cook in Chinese ppl’s standards, they think I ruin the reputation of Chinese food, but I can make very good dumplings and I’m a super good cook in westerners’ eyes 😂😂 at least I cook better than many of those fake Chinese restaurants that are owned by Vietnamese people in Europe !! 🤣🤣

Learn : Whatever is new to me;

Share : I travel the globe to bring good luck to good people, like a non-religious missionary 🤣😁

I’m not a clean freak , but I’m cleaner than many others, I sometimes volunteer to clean my hosts’ homes when they are away for showing my gratitude . and I sometimes can’t help myself brushing their toilets 🤣🤣🤣
