About Me

MY MISSION

Work for the European Space Agency and help solve the biggest problems of our era:
- Climate Change
- Moon and Mars colonization

BACKGROUND

I am Gabriel, your non-typical Spaniard born just 50 minutes away from the vibrant city of Madrid (which sounds way better than saying that I am from a small town in the middle of nowhere).

Anyway! I lived in my town until I was 22 studying Computer Science (ok, this I actually studied in Madrid) and then I moved to work in Ireland (Dublin), where I would spend the best 2 and a half years of my life.

Then I got a call for an offer to work in the US and, without much thinking (in retrospective, that wouldn't have hurt), I donated 3/4 of my belongings to charity, packed the rest in a backpack and 2 suitcases, and sailed the seas (or flew Norwegian, but sailing sounds more adventurous/betterER).

Now I am on a mission to explore the New World, going every weekend to a different place, but hopefully keeping the people.

HOW CAN I TRAVEL EVERY WEEKEND

My company is pretty cool and they pay me commuting flight tickets every weekend from anywhere (for a reasonable price, of course) to the office. When I don't have a clear place to go, I go back to Austin, TX (which is awesome).

HOBBIES

Nothing super special: traveling, reading (sci-fi and historical fiction are the best), working out at the gym, hiking through National Parks, road-trips.. And Board Games! Definitely always up for some beers and Board Games.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because when I look at back at my trips and my memories, the first thing that comes to my mind is the people. Everybody I've met who made those moments great an unique.

You won't get that in a hotel. You may not get that in a hostel either.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach almost every concept of Computer Science in a language understandable by humans with little or no Computer Science background.

I like going very deep in my explanations and at the same time I love detail, it helps me build the idea in my head by putting all the little parts together and assembling them in a new concept.

I also like to know other people's views on politics, history, and pretty much any subjective matter.

What I Can Share with Hosts

- Sushi Go
- Jenga
- Bang!
