About Me

🙋‍♂️ Hey there! I'm Ludvik (yep, with a "k")—a 24-year-old business student from the beautiful city of Prague, the Czech Republic. When I'm not buried in textbooks or working on my career in marketing, you'll likely find me out on the football field or supporting my loved club SK Slavia Prague from the stands.

⚽ Sport is my passion—I'm an avid football player and an enthusiastic fan. My love for sports extends beyond the pitch; whether it's hitting the gym or engaging in any athletic activity, I'm all in. Staying active is more than a hobby; it's essential for my well-being (and sanity, haha).

🍻 But life isn't all about sports. I value the moments spent with friends, whether we're enjoying a pint (or a few), singing our favorite tunes at karaoke, or dancing the night away. It's the ultimate way to unwind, live in the moment, and share laughter with those dear to me—it's the Czech way, after all.

🌍 And I can't forget about traveling. Though I wish I could do it more often, I've still experienced some incredible places like Madeira, Lisbon, Istanbul, Edinburgh, and the Isle of Skye. All of these journeys have only fueled my desire to see more of the world, eagerly anticipating the next destination on my bucket list.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I first ventured into Couchsurfing during my exchange semester in Edinburgh, Scotland, seeking ways to travel on a budget. A high school friend's mention of Couchsurfing sparked my curiosity, and it only took one stay to realize it's about much more than just a free place to sleep. Reflecting on my travels, I've noticed that the specifics of places and sights blur with time, but the moments shared with people stay. Who, after all, could forget watching a movie with an Emmy-winning director?

I must give a shoutout to Yes Theory and their 'Seek Discomfort' movement, which played a vital role in my decision to explore this platform. Even though I don’t watch their videos as much these days, their message—that "strangers are just friends you haven’t met yet", and that "life's greatest moments and deepest connections exist outside of your comfort zone" —continues to resonate with me deeply.

Music, Movies, and Books

My musical tastes are as broad as they are dynamic, spanning the energizing rhythms of EDM, the storytelling of hip-hop and pop, to the timeless appeal of oldies. My playlist often features a mix of artists like Coldplay (their concert is among my most unforgettable experiences!), Kodaline, Dean Lewis, Lewis Capaldi, and Viktor Sheen (a Czech-Kazakhstan rapper).

My interest in movies covers a wide spectrum, from the depth of "The Theory of Everything" to the intense action of "1917". "Moneyball" aligns my with my love for sports, while Ryan Reynolds satisfies my humour. While it's hard for me to pinpoint a single favorite movie, "Peaky Blinders" claims the top spot in series without a hesitation.

My reading leans towards non-fiction, with a keen interest in personal development and life philosophies. "Essentialism" by Greg McKeown has recently made a significant impact on me, earning its place as one of the best books I've ever read. It’s a must-read for anyone looking to prioritize what truly matters.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

During my exchange semester in Lisbon, I took on the challenge of running the Lisbon Half-Marathon. Despite the limited time for training and recovering from an illness just days before the race, I pushed beyond my limits. The second half of the marathon tested both my physical endurance and especially mental strength. In the end, not only did I manage to cross the finish line, I also surpassed my target time.

Teach, Learn, Share

Happy to teach you some Czech words and tell you all about our rich culture. Big on sports too, especially football, so I've got plenty of tips there. And, just for fun, I’ll show you how to pick out a really good Czech beer—because, let's face it, our beer is the best!

I'm all ears when it comes to learning about your culture. Teach me about your favorite dishes and music. Got a sport you love? I'm in! There’s always something awesome to learn from someone else’s world.

Got stories? So do I! If you’re ever in Prague, I've got the inside scoop on the best spots. Need to know where to eat, hang out, or just explore? I'm your guy. And if I can, I'll even take you around the city myself.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Looking forward to sharing stories and enjoying a pint of beer together! If you're visiting my city, I'd be more than happy to show you around, introducing you to the hidden gems that only locals know. Let's create some great memories!
