Overview
About Me
Grown up in Germany close to the Netherlands, started traveling in May '18.
Hey this is Sönke, strange name I know - Im gonna teach you how to pronounce.
About one year ago I set up to travel to Australia, bought a car on my b-day, crashed it on my girlfriend's b-day, left Darwin about a week later.
Since then we're traveling trough Asia. In Vietnam we met lots of kind people while volunteering in an English homestay. So we end up becoming English teachers in Saigon, found our first own apartment and stayed for about 7 months. Also while that time I got into modeling and had the pleasure to meet many creatives from Vietnam and around the world.
Previously in Germany I've been working as an boxing coach, as I'm practicing this sport nearly all my life already.
Also I'm kind of Graffiti Artist - kind of 'cause I'm not claiming to be a professional, I'm doing it because I love to.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
When I first got in touch with foreigners (not grown up in GER) I was 16ish. While one or five beers in a bar I found out they were refugees.
In the following years me and my friends spent lots of time with people from all around the globe, showing what living in our area is like whilst listening and trying to understand their stories.
It's the moments and places that create memories but mostly its the people that make them a great story.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Slept at Mindel beach in Australia, while rain-season, which is known for its visits of 8 meter saltwater crocodiles, while rain-season. Also been snorkeling there without knowing the danger of box jellyfishes
- survived it.
Got dropped off in the center of Singapore without money a few hours before the transfer flight
- still made it.
Lost my passport in the airplane on the flight to China, got surrounded by dozens of guards
- found it.
Teach, Learn, Share
As I've been teaching English in Vietnam to students all ages,. I do also speak German and French.
If you're interested in sports, I can show you lots of exercises. Started from typical boxing workouts over cardio to Freeletics, which includes body-exercises with own bodyweight.
You're interested in art? So I am, we can sketch together and exchange different techniques and skills. I mainly focus on graffiti. I could teach you how to handle a spray can.
I love to take photos and I do it a lot. When it comes to editing I only use some basic applications. If you know how to handle Lightroom, or any others of the Adobe Creative Cloud, feel free to share your knowledge.
Also always open for cultural exchange, story telling and listening and whatever you'd like to share.
