Overview
About Me
Curious with a dark sense of humor and a heart of gold.
After searching for the right study and some soul searching I feel at home studying History in Groningen. I who studies history in the beautiful city of Groningen.
With eight countries to go, I am focusing my travels on Europe. But, I am still planning for world domination.
I love sports, both active and passively, although my focus has been on the former lately. I also like to go out to electronic festivals and parties and chill with my roommates.
Fun fact: I have a Frisian name, but in Arabic it is the biggest sin in Islam.
"Money can grow back, time will not"
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
After catching the travel bug I started checking off countries in Europe, but always felt like an outsider looking in. With Couchsurfing this still is the case, but you get to speak with people that live the country.
In my travels I notice time and time again that few people that visit The Netherlands venture outside of the western part, but there is so much more than Amsterdam.

Music, Movies, and Books
My taste in music depends on my mood, but currently I focus on hip-hop (Run the Jewels, Rhymesayers) and techno (Joris Voorn, Charlotte de Witte).
I am watching less and less tv, so my favorites are oldies like The Big Lebowski, Blade Runner, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and The Wire.
I prefer non-fiction books such as 'The Sleepwalkers' in which Christopher Clark looks at the various reasons for the start of World War One. As a kid my favorite book was 'Sans Famille' by Hector Malot, about an orphan who travels France and Italy.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
* Being a passenger in a speeding car going downhill from the Kosovan border during Ramadan
* Forgetting to add an hour and missing my stop in the night train to Cluj-Napoca
* Walking for seven hours along the highway in Latvia trying to hitchhike to Riga
* Having the habit of losing at least one item every holiday I go on
Want to hear how these stories end? Host me and I might tell you.
Teach, Learn, Share
Unpurposely I can come up with something brilliant in conversation. I can teach you Frisian and can give you millions of utterly useless facts about Dutch football in the 1990s and 2000s.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Using two things on the side of my head, I love listening to other people's stories.
I can make various Dutch dishes, but I rarely hear foreigners speak highly of our cuisine, so you're warned. I really like doing new things as much as possible. Finally, due to my travel history I have a couple of nice experiences that I can share.
