Hey there I'm John, an aspiring writer and photographer who loves to travel the world and open his horizons. As of the moment I'm a full time student taking up ng degree in Construction Managament, and a full time sales associate for a phone company.

I haven't been to many places yet, but since I came here to Canada in the year 2017, I found my passion to learning different cultures, languags and the beauty of different ethnicity.

I also love to take pictures and seeing interesting places where I can integrate myself to the local community.

I also love hiking and camping, the sense of achievement in reaching mountain's summits for me are the best feeling, especially when you I do it with people with great stories to tell along the trail.

My goal is to travel the world and meet amazing people, make friends that would last a lifetime.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because I like the idea of the platform, which encourages people at the same time making it easier and more possible to travel and learn about other people. Compared to other platforms it focuses on our passion which is to travel like a local and have legit genuine friends from different parts of the world. You might be the host or the surfer but one thing is for sure, a company that would open you up to much larger things than yourself and the place that you know will always be an adventure to the mind of an infinite doors.

Music, Movies, and Books

Ed Sheeran's songs are the music I listen to, although you would hear me sing a lot of Micheal Buble and 90's boybands.

For movies I'm fond of watching Disney's and Marvel's. I also love movies that makes your mind puzzled like Time Lapse, Mr. Nobody, Forrest Gump and etc. TV Series is also one of my addiction, I watch The Big Bang Theory all the time, and reality game shows such as Big Brother, Survivor and The Amazing Race.

I love to read books, right now I'm focusing on self- help books. So far I've read: The Alchemist ( Paulo Coelho), Linchpin (Seth Godin), The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck (Mark Manson), Think and Grow Rich (Napoleon Hill), The Power of Now (Eckhart Tolle), You are a Badass (Jen Sincero), The Greatest Salesman in the World (Og Mandino), How Life Works ( Andrew Mathews) and The Four Agreements (Don Miguel Ruiz). For Non-fiction books my favorites are The Lightning Thief series (Rick Riordan) and The Maze Runner series (James Dashner)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I quit my job in 2023 and solo backpacked across Asia for 4 months! I met a lot of amazing people and learned so much about myself that I plan to do it again when the money makes sense!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach Tagalog, how to cook Filipino food, and probably a thing or two about Edmonton. I would live to learn the language, the traditions of your country, probably some local songs and dances and your stories in life. I can share my knowledge in engineering, also insights from the books I've read and stories that I have being an immigrant to a new country.
