Overview
About Me
Hey! Nate here. I'm a globally-minded individual who is always trying to see the bigger picture. I currently live in Markham, Ontario, where I am working as a graphic designer, but I grew up in rural Southwestern Ontario. I'm a Global Business and Digital Arts graduate and have studied at the University of Waterloo here in Ontario, as well as Lancaster University in the UK.
I'm a passionate music fan, and am constantly introducing myself to new artists and musical genres from all over the world. I attend shows and concerts whenever I get the chance, and I love meeting other music fans and sharing stories over a pint of local beer.
I travel not only to enjoy new places, people, and experiences, but also because I feel a duty to continually challenge my perspective. It is only through challenging ourselves that we experience growth.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm currently in the process of moving to downtown Toronto from the suburbs. I've got a new job in the city and want to meet people and immerse myself into different parts of the city while searching for a place of my own.
I like meeting new people and have gotten a lot of value out of hosteling and Airbnb when travelling in the past, but I am looking to do something different and more frugal.

Music, Movies, and Books
I have pretty diverse musical tastes, and listen to a lot of bands from all over the world. My favourite artists of 2019 were: Lingua Ignota, Greet Death, SeeYouSpaceCowboy, Charli XCX, Filmmaker, Bring Me The Horizon, Billie Eilish, Shortparis, and Denzel Curry.
My favourite films are Pulp Fiction, Gladiator, It Follows, and A Ghost Story. I like watching movies in general, especially ones that make you think.
I try to read a book a month. I'm currently reading When To Jump by Mike Lewis.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I sponsor a child in The Philippines through Compassion International. His name is Rhone, and I'm helping ensure he gets access to nutritious food, education, and medical coverage.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can TEACH you about international craft beer culture, the Toronto music scene, and the differences between hiking culture in North America and the UK.
I want to LEARN about you! What drives you? What are your passions? Why do you get up in the morning? What keeps you going?
I can SHARE a large collection of curated music. I'd love the opportunity to introduce you to some of my favourites or hear some of yours!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Relaxed, quality, conversation. An intense interest in different perspectives and points of view.
