About Me
25.
Currently making some small backpack forays into my local milieu, possibly in preparation for a much longer, more ambitious, and more exotic trip, which has Been quietly shelved on my back burner since before the world closing events which kicked off this third decade of our fine millennium.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I’m on couch surfing because I want to travel in the heart of places. I want the openness of free exchange, the wonderful cross pollination of ideas, experiences, and generosities that comes with this type of platform. I am on couch surfing because it makes travelling anywhere feel completely possible. Like hitchhiking hiking, it is travel that relies on the generosity of others, and that generosity is abundant, which is pretty darn sweet.

Music, Movies, and Books
Ohh I love music, and a wide range of music, but if I were to define one thread that connects all my favourite music, is that it is all melodic, and often intricate, featuring virtuosic vocals or instrumentality - like the sweet sweet guitar of Julian Lage, the rambunctious jazzy blues of blood sweat and tears, the soaring sublimity of Keith Jarrett, the soul tearing shreds of jimi Hendrix, or the psychedelic-electro-big band super speculations of the inimitable Peter cat recording company.
As far as books go, I have something like a magnetic draw to difficult literature, though it is a slow process to really enter into it. I am thinking particularly of the later works of Mr. Joyce. Sometimes to my dismay I also have a rather unquenchable interest in matters theological and philosophical, but I often feel that books, helpful though they can be, distract me from the better sources of insight in those spheres, which must mostly be found in the process of actually living.
In a recent development I have been delighted to discover the deeply rascallish, witty and insightful literary fiction of Tom Robbins.
People of the world, relax.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Canoed down the Yukon river is a pretty cool one.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have my guitar and would be more than happy to teach it to you, learn it from you, or just get into the music with you. I am also quite the enjoyer of fine conversation, and I would love to hear what your experience of this strange, wonderful and terrifying world is like, since it will surely present some alternate angles to my own.
