Dear Culture lover,

I have to admit this is the first time we are using the couch surfing app. But with a trip in Scotland ahead we will give it a go!

Me and my friend Ymkje are in Edinburgh from 27februari till 6 march, we are looking for locals to meet up, show us around and/or recommend us nice places and a couch to crash on, for maybe 1 or two days.

I, Manon am 23 years old always intelligent and sometimes hardworking student studying the International Hospitality management in Leeuwarden. On my days off I love to bring my kajak to the lake nearby my home to make a nice round or going to explore cities in the Netherlands with our free travelling student card. As being an hardworking student I like to get away from the daily life stuff with travelling and exploring new interesting stunning architecture, art and culture and definitely good food. As it seems I like to be busy all the time, the truth is I like Netflix as well! I consider myself as a normal person. Raised in a good way, being open minded and helpfull. About music? I can listen and enjoy most music from classic music to death metal, atm listening to country music if you dont like it, its ok. What else to say, my favourite movie? I don’t believe I have a favourate movie, same as my music taste I like to watch different kind of movies for variety. The most interesting book I have read is the Pakan Baroe railway. Talking about pets, dogs are my favourate. Having a Irish Setter at home being a part of the family. Having horses, chickens, geese and let us not forget the gold fish makes it a small farm I live on. The amazing things I have done? So much, but my wildlife course in South Africa, holiday in South Africa and Zanzibar makes me still talk about it every day! What a dream came true for me last year going to this continent. Smoking? Dont mind if other people smoke, as I am Dutch sorry I dont smoke weed, traumas from the brownies I can say. Well that was a short story about me.

My dear friend Ymkje is 22 years old and she studies photography and arts. She is extremely creative and has a heart for music. She is by far the most interesting friend I have!

Together we share a passion for traveling, exploring and meeting new people. We love the combination of hiking in the nature and seeing the architecture of the cities. We are both very social and love to learn and experience new things. We would love to come back from this trip with more cultural knowledge, stories and memories.

I could go for a 5 star luxurious hotel with wellness and everything included but that does not bring the joy of meeting new people being just as enthusiastic about cultures as well.
