I have recently moved back to Istanbul from Manchester. I read, write (published a novel and some academic works on especially women writers), listen to music (and sing too), watch movies, go for walks and travel. I am a lazy cook and I do yoga (but I am very undisciplined about it!). I am also a whisky fan.

My flat is in central Beşiktaş which is very well connected to the rest of the city. There are many bars, cafes, restaurants nearby and it is 10 minutes walk away from the sea.

Music, Movies, and Books

Many favorites but to give a glimpse: I listen to contemporary classics quite a lot (Philip Glass, Yann Tiersen etc.); I also listen a lot of indie-folk with Bon Iver and Iron&Wine being my all time favorites. As a literature academic, I usually have varied answers for "favorite books" question, but I can safely say that The Golden Notebook by Doris Lessing is one of the best things I have ever read. I also have a soft spot for Sylvia Plath. Finally, I have many favorite movies but one of the recent favorites has been Arrival (Villeneuve, 2016). I saw Wrestling Ernest Hemingway (Haines, 1993) almost 10 years ago and I don't remember it much and haven't had a chance to see it ever again, but I am pretty sure that too is one of my favorites.
