Hello!, ¡Hola! مرحبًا! My name is Joaquín Pérez. I am a student currently getting my MA studying global affairs at George Mason University. I am a very proud Puerto Rican 🇵🇷 , and love my heritage and Spanish language. I live in a city called Fairfax, Virginia when I am not abroad. It is a somewhat small town that is very close to Washington, D.C. My family however, is from a very small "municipio" called Jayuya, which is in the middle, mountainous region of Puerto Rico. There, we own a farm where we grow lettuce, peppers, raise animals, and love making "sofrito." I love cooking traditional things such as tostones, mofongo, arroz con gandules, etc. I also like to dance and experience night life. The minute I hear some perreo, or salsa I just feel the rhythm in my soul! At first, I am a bit quiet and sometimes shy but with good people I can open up and have a good time. I also love astrology, am open to all religions, backgrounds, etc! 🙂

I am on couch surfing not just to have a free place to stay but so that I can have wonderful experiences with people from different countries and be able to have friends for life. I hope that although I can be a bit shy, we can make connections, and that we can share common or very different experiences with each other so we can grow and learn.
