I'm a 23 year old student finishing up his bachelors degree in Anthropology. It's really cool to study all kinds of different cultures and I love picking out how universal ideas or values translate into specific cultures (religion is a particular interest of mine). But after spending nearly two years staring at a screen in the ''comfort'' of my 20 square meter studio apartment, I feel the outdoors calling for me. Reading about cultures is great (and I have done so A LOT over the past couple of years) but true culture shock only occurs when you allow yourself to get immersed into other people's living world.
