About Me

Justice is where solidarity is.

Fastest way to reach me Telegram or Instagram @dauzhanok ✈️

Hi, my name is Daniil, I’m from Minsk, Belarus.
As a kid I was into dancing and handball. Later all my energy went into creativity: I started drawing labyrinths and making clothes with embroidery and prints (@96iza, @dauzhanokmaze).
When I moved to Poland I got into climbing and wrestling.
My big goal is to keep growing my labyrinth art and visit every famous and hidden maze in the world. I want friends all over the planet — because when you have people everywhere, you finally feel truly free and like a real citizen of the world.
One day I want to return to my little village Petrikov on the Pripyat river and build a bowling club there. There’s almost nothing to do for fun, and I’d love the people to have a cool place to hang out.
And yeah, I have a younger brother. He’s been crazy about football since he was tiny and dreams of going pro. Right now we live together in Poland — I draw mazes, he playing the football, and somehow it’s easier side by side.

To give you a better idea of my work, I am attaching a link to a Google Docs folder with a short presentation about my creative projects in labyrinth design. There are two identical files — the one with the larger file size has higher quality:

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Hi, I’m Daniil.
For the past 10 years I’ve been creating labyrinths. It all started back in school when I used to cover every single notebook with mazes, and the teachers were really unhappy with me. I’m originally from Belarus, where modern creativity isn’t exactly welcomed by society.
Now I’m in Europe and I want to visit all the big living hedge mazes. I’m starting with Italy.
Right now, as I’m writing this, I’m honestly terrified just to imagine travelling so far from home and from the people close to me, all alone.
But what if all that fear is wrong? What if along the way I discover a ton of new things, meet wonderful people, and start seeing the world with different eyes?
Maybe I should be more afraid of staying in one place forever and never learning anything about the world. Maybe it’s time to stop being scared of everything new and just take that step.
I’d be really happy to meet people who also love creativity, long walks, and heartfelt conversations.

Music, Movies, and Books

By the way, my all-time favorite book is “Quo Vadis” by Henryk Sienkiewicz. I love how it brings ancient Rome to life: love, faith, and inner strength.
And my favorite “film” is actually an anime called Honey and Clover. It’s gentle and deep, about creativity, first love, and trying to figure out where you’re going in life.
My favorite song is Goodbye For Now by Touché Amoré.
Spotify says it was my most played track this year.
In 2025 I even went to their concert.
And the moment that gets me every time is when the female vocals come in at the end

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I’ve just finished the biggest and most important labyrinth of my life — it took me three years.
So far I’ve only posted small fragments on @dauzhanokmaze, but soon I’ll show the whole thing.
It’s not just a drawing: the entire image is made exclusively of horizontal and vertical lines, yet it’s a fully working labyrinth with hundreds of different routes and variations 💚

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to draw labyrinths and introduce you to Belarusian culture, art and music.

What I Can Share with Hosts

If someone comes to stay with me, I’d love to introduce you to Belarusian culture: share some cool creative stuff, literature, and show you my favorite musicians and artists. We can listen to great tracks together or even walk through one of my own labyrinth designs (I’ve been creating and drawing them for over 10 years).
But honestly, I enjoy listening to other people’s stories even more than telling mine. So come with yours — I’d be happy to hear your stories :)
