About Me
Hi there!
My Name is Timon, I am from Germany and in the start of my trip around the world. I worked for 4 months in different hostels in portugal and travelled the Iberian peninsula, but know I want to travel the balkans and visit countries I have never been in.
I am an outgoing and extrovert person who always tries to make everybody happy. I myself am a happy person and you will rarely find me without a smile on my face, especially not if the sun is shining. I love the warmth and can't stand the cold.
Also I am a Christian who is interested in all kind of religions and spiritual beliefs, matter of fact I want to study theology one day.
I grew up around my 3 older siblings who are all atheist so I have a thick skin and I am always open for discussions. However I also know that this topic can be very sensitive and going with not talking about religion (, politics and football) while traveling probably saved me a few years at the end of my life ;)
Last but not least I am an absolute bread lover and can not even express how much I like it. It is for sure the biggest thing I miss about being home but I am always on the lookout for new bread types.
Aside from that I will try every different type of food and am really excited about learning about new cuisines.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Probably the most important thing that I have learned while traveling is that the most precious memories you make are because of the people and never really because of the actual place. "The water is always bluer somewhere else" is a great reminder to me to not be on the hunt to the most beautiful places but instead creating memorable moments with people that actually add value to my life and ideally turn into good friends.
Interests
I like to do all kinds of sports like martial arts, lifting (back when I was not traveling) and competing in team sports. I love skating, even though I am not good at it and surfing is next one the list of things to learn. I am eager to learn about new cultures, meet new people, and try new dishes.

Music, Movies, and Books
One of my favorites, or maybe even the favorite, and definitely the one that I have to mention on here, is Tomislav Perko's "1000 days of spring". This book gave me the dream to travel the world a few years ago and brought me to the point where I am today. It's an awesome read about a guy traveling the world for 10 euros a day and he was the one introducing me to Couchsurfing.
He also has a great Ted Talk!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Saw the curvature of the earth from a friend's property in Brazil and the most beautiful nightsky I have ever seen.
Crashed a motorcycle in Thailand to safe two kittens.
Hitchhiked a mail car in Croatia.
Teach, Learn, Share
My grandmother and mother both are trained chefs and taught me early, and I hope that I can exchange recipes and knowledge in the kitchen.
What I Can Share with Hosts
My jokes are never on point, especially not in english and I laugh at inappropriate times.
I don't take life so seriously and people always tell me that I have a child like approach to life (which I take as compliment eventhough it can be meant as in insult).
