About Me

Hi there,
I'm Johanna and I'm currently in my 7th semester studying linguistics and I'm hoping to study German as a foreign language afterwards to become a German teacher. After school, I spent a year in New Zealand travelling and ever since then it's been my dream to go back and hike the TA track. I'd say that I'm a quite musical person and if you have a guitar or a piano I probably won't be able to resist trying it out for a bit. I enjoy the outdoors just as much as I enjoy exploring cities and I'm always down for a good talk over a nice meal and maybe some wine or beer.

Unfortunately I don't have the space to host anyone atm but if you are in the area, feel free to message me anyway, I'd love to show you around. I am fully vaccinated as of last month.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have had a number of stays through websites like HelpX and Wwoofing and I really love exploring different places through people who actually live there. But since those two are usually more suited to people looking for longer stays I have decided to also join Couchsurfing. Honestly I just really like the kind of people you meet on these types of sites, and how these networks encourage growth in all those who use them.

Music, Movies, and Books

I immensely enjoy anything Eurovision, but overall I'd say I have a very varied taste in music, my biggest point of pride is that my last spotify wrapped included songs in 14 different languages. I always enjoy discovering new music so I'd love it if you could share your favourite artists with me and in return, I can share some German Indie-Pop with you, which is also a genre I seem to be always going back to. I also love singing and playing the guitar, and if you have a piano I would also very gladly make some use of that. I'm currently trying to expand my guitar skills further into the direction of classical guitar and playing melodies, with mediocre success.

I love arthouse films as well as historical dramas, my ultimate comfort film is Disney's Robin Hood though.

I really loved reading Life of Pi. If you haven't read it, you should read it. I love the film just as much as the book, but the book is a completely different experience. I also loved reading War and Peace. But honestly, I do far too little reading these days.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent a year in New Zealand, where, amongst many other things, I pulled a tree off the road with my bare hands (along with about 10 other people) because me and my friends were hungry and afraid the Fish'n'Chips shop we wanted to go to would close before we arrived.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've been vegan for almost two years now and I'd love to share some recipes with you. Other than that I'm not sure what I can teach you, but maybe something will come up. I do love to learn about other people's way of life, to share stories and maybe also some songs.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Some nice conversation and if you have any instruments I'd love to try them out :)
