About Me
Hey everyone, my name is Ann-Christin, but I prefer if you´d call me Kiki. I love to learn about cultures that are foreign to me and to make new friends all around the globe. Besides that, I really enjoy cooking for and with others (I really hate to eat alone), gardening and crafting. I´m also drawn to the idea of low-impact living and try to be intentional with the way I live my life. Mostly I am a quite spontaneous and yet reliable person I would say.
You decide you want to host a barbecue tonight?
- Count me in, I´d probably bring two salads and a dessert.
Spontanous weekend trip?
- Yeah well, my deadline isn´t until Wednesday and I´m almost finished with it anyways.
During my studies in what you could probably best describe as Management of small and medium-sized companies, I realized that I am a very curious person and really like to dive deep. Thus I decided that I want to try to pursue an academic path. So I started my Ph.D. studies in entrepreneurship (which is basically a fancy way of saying that I focus on everything that is not considered to be huge cooperations). I am really passionate about doing research as I always learn new things and thus challenge myself every day. Guess we´ll see how that turns out.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I´m new to this amazing community. Thought about joining it for years, but actually never had the guts to do so. Now I got the great opportunity to come to visit my Mentor at Indiana University on a Fulbright scholarship for six months (pretty nerdy, I know). Since I´m not a student anymore and I am „only“ here to do my research, and thus don´t attend courses (yeah even more nerdy) I learned how hard it can be to find friends and to get in touch with a foreign culture, when you don´t have the luxury of having classmates. So I thought about ways to get in touch with locals and stumbled across couchsurfing again. Only this time I was finally ready to join.

Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to a lot of different genres (rock, pop, hip-hop, indie), always depending on my mood. If i had to choose, I´d probably choose rock. Linkin Park is one of my all time favorite, but for example I also enjoy Macklemore's more unknown pieces. The lyrics are amazing if you'd ask me.
Really enjoyed watching Inside out and Black Swan. But honestly I prefer to watch shows, as you have more time to get to know the characters. I love Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Friends, Blacklist, The OA, The Boys and much more.
Wish I was reading more for enjoyment and not so much for work. My favorite book is: "Wenn die Nacht am stillsten ist“ by Arezu Weitholz.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I tried to learn the french horn for six years. I pretty much sucked at it and also hated it, but knew that my grandfather loved to see my efforts.
Also I did not give up on my PhD so far, which is an accomplishment I guess.
What I Can Share with Hosts
A lot of international recipes, as I love to cook different cousines.
Furthermore I can share differnet cultural experiences that I made durnig my travels. I love to exchange experiences in this regard and to learn more about you and your country. Of course I can share a deep cultural understandig of Germany, i guess, as I grew up here.
If you need help with anything, just reach out. I like to get creative and find solutions.
