I have traveled all over the world as a volunteer courier delivering bone marrow to cancer patients. I have also traveled to China, Japan the Middle East solo. I travel with two small carry-ons do all of my planning myself and consider myself a failure at planning if I run into any other Americans.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am couch surfing because I have never met a stranger and I love to hear about their lives their culture and share mine with them.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a fan of old twangy C and W Music and the music of the 70s and 80s as well as blues and jazz. Some what addicted to Netflix and and movies based on actual events. I like watching old black and white classic movies as well as movies from the 40s and 50s. I would rather read a book and then watch TV. I like historical novels and mysteries.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In India there is a small mountain on which there are over 800 temples built by members of the Jain Religion. To get to heaven a Jain must build a white marble temple commensurate with their ability to pay for it therefore they can be as small as doll houses or as large as a traditional temple. There are 2300 steps to get to the top. I did it without any help or being carried in a sedan chair.

Teach, Learn, Share

I used to teach seventh and eighth grade and love to teach people about Kansas City and it’s history. I am insanely curious about almost anything. I am a great guest at a dinner party As there are very few subjects I can’t talk about except sports.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I believe that all people in the world are basically the same beneath their skin color. We all want to be treated as a human being and we all basically have the same needs and desires. I might goal as a host is to demonstrate to guests especially foreign guests that not all Americans are into McMansions and conspicuous consumption.
