Chi sono
[I'm no longer at home, but wandering in Denmark]
Hi, I am Nguyen, preferably called Sam because my Vietnamese tends to challenge foreigners *awkward laugh*. Obviously, I am Vietnamese, 100% authentic, as I love to say. I graduated from a university in Korea, stayed in Poland for my exchange program, then came back to Korea and finished my bachelor degree. Currently, I am in Denmark pursuing my Master degree in Intercultural Studies.
I am interested in a lot of things, but my utmost passion belongs to intercultural communication in general (I ran to Poznan to study cultural anthropology only for a term).
I love Vietnamese culture, for I was brought up in a beautiful traditional city in the middle of Vietnam, and this place nurtured my interest in cultural studies. On top of that, I love culture sharing with other people, in both ways. Whoever you are, wherever you come from, I know there is a culture behind you, and I am always excited to hear about it!
I also, love love. If you know what it means, I see myself as a dreamer, and I love talking about love and feelings. I love hugs if it helps :)
Perché sono iscritto su Couchsurfing
I used to be a freelancer food tour guide in Hue (my hometown) before leaving Korea, and during those tours, I really enjoy sharing my Vietnamese culture with my guests.
I know it would be better to learn about the culture of each place through the lovely people who are living there. That is why I am here on Couchsurfing, to find hosts who actually live and understand the city I am going to.
I surfed through 6 places and my hosts are all lovely people. I hosted 4 at my home in Hue and met amazing people as well :)
Musica, film e libri
I sing badly, but I love music, and you can usually see me day-dreaming just listening to Adele, Michael Bubble, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swifts, or Meghan Trainor :D
I love "chilling" to the music!
I like reading detective books, detective and shoujo manga :)
If you are into manga as well, I have a list just for you, but for books, I read less often, my favorites so far have been the two popular series Sherlock Holmes and Harry Potter.
Most of the time, I spend reading academic books, especially on cultural, ethnic identity, and history.
Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto
I found a cultural club in a Korean university :)
May seems like not a big deal, but I feel so proud doing so, because it means I have the ability to transform my passion into something meaningful hehe :>
Ahh, I also participated in a high school musical project as the main director and also actress. It was huge, at least for me and the students. Cost us almost 8 months to prepare everything. The coolest thing is, the musical was about preserving folk music :)
Cosa posso offrire ai padroni di casa
I grew up in Vietnam, and I majored in Vietnamese history, with a true passion for Vietnamese culture, so I am confident to say that I will share with you everything I know (and probably you want to know) about my country and our people. Especially, nothing makes me happier than cooking Vietnamese foods for international friends, so if you want, we can even cook together a Vietnamese meal.
I also stayed in Korea for four years, also a traditional city (it is not a coincidence that all of my stays are traditional cities/towns:)))), so perhaps if you want to know about Korea, I can help you with your curiosity as well, but of course not much as I do for Vietnam.
Let me know about you and I am happy to be the host :)
