About Me

Hi!
My name is Miriam, and I am a student at Pasvik Folkehögskole in northern Norway. I grew up in southern Sweden and lived there until a year ago, when I decided to move up north. In sweden, I studied technical studies, but here, I have learned about dog mushing and Outdoor life .

I started studying at Pasvik Folkehögskole because I wanted to develop my hobbies more. I have been a scout since I was 6 years old, and has always loved being outdoors in nature. Also, I have had two dogs since before and I find it very amazing how humans and dogs can work together in different ways. Therefore, studying Dog Mushing and outdoor life during one year sounded like a perfect thing for me.

Here, I have met many wonderful people and experienced a lot of unique things. One thing I have learned here is how many things there are in this world to discover. New people to meet, new places to see and new traditions and cultures to learn about.

This summer, I am traveling through central Europe together with my friend Johanna who I met here at the Folkehögskole. It is my first time couchsurfing, but I have had many good experiences of living with host families and together with new people. For instance, I have participated in a Erasmus+ project and lived for one week with a family in Italy, and throughout my scouting years, I have participated in different hikes where you get paired up with people you have never met before to go for two week long hikes in either forests or mountains.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing feels like a good way of experiencing a country from within. Living in hotels during the travels would not give me opportunities to meet locals and experience the culture nearly as good as couchsurfing does.

I love to meet new people with different backgrounds, that can share stories and thoughts. I highly value having good conversations with others and I always want to learn about other perspectives and ways of viewing the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to a lot of different music, and I vibe with a lot of different genres. My two favourite songs right now are Hjerteknuser by rOlfFa and Ready or Not by Bridgit Mendler. But it changes a lot!

My favourite movie is probably Love Actually. I love romantic comedies.

I really enjoy fantasy and book-series like Eragon, Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings. But my absolute favorite book series has to be Harry Potter. I also just started reading a lot of scandinavian thrillers, and I think that Lars Kepler and Camilla Läckberg are very good authors.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Moved from southern Sweden to nothern Norway and starting dog-mushing. Also slept outside in -25 degrees.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share stories about my life in Norway, show pictures and videos from dog mushing, skiing and much more. I can teach you how to knit a sweater, and cook traditional scandinavian food for you. I give good company and nice conversations.
