Über mich

Why is the sea blue? Because the fish go blublublu…
Lame jokes aside, I am a university student from Hong Kong who is currently travelling around Europe with my girlfriend. I’ve got a lot of Hong Kong experiences to share: the culture, history, landscape, politics… I am an avid runner too! I run a lot (much less when travelling) and is up for a jog.

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

To experience a city authentically, you should try living like a local. Simply checking in popular tourist spot isn’t travelling. Travelling is about understanding the local culture, interacting with locals, bonding and creating experiences. Couchsurfing is THE platform to do so.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

I love music, and classical music is absolutely my favourite. From Bach to Beethoven to Brahms, from piano sonatas to full scale symphonies, I love them all. I love to engage in musical conversations.
Apart from classical music, I enjoy jazz and pop before the 90s. Nat King Cole, Dave Brubeck, Benny Golson, the Beatles, BeeGees, ABBA, Elvis Presley… just to name a few.

My favourite writer is Haruki Murakami. In fact, I have already read every novel by Murakami. His approach on solitude and loneliness, as well as broad musical references is unparalleled.
My favourite books are: The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera; The Trial by Frank Kafka; and Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World by Murakami.

I’m not a frequent moviegoer, but I do have some favourite movies. The Matrix remains my all-time favourite. The idea of living in a simulation is intriguing, if not compelling.
I’ve been a Star Wars fan, I enjoy the Saw series, and I like the Godfather. Leon, Schindler’s List, the Pianist, Interstellar… and so on.

TLDR: Old-school music, Novels about loneliness, futility and consciousness, mind-racking movies.

Lehren, lernen, teilen

When people think of Hong Kong, they think we speak ‘Ni Hao’. Nope. Nihao is Mandarin. Hongkongers take pride in speaking Cantonese, the most traditional and intricate of Chinese language. I can name you in traditional Chinese according to your native name, not something that occurs often!
I play the piano too. Not a good pianist, still got a long way to go! I can barely pull off Liszt’s Liebestraum, and I’m currently learning Chopin Ballade No.1.

Was ich mit Gastgebern teilen kann

My experiences in Hong Kong, my love for music, running and medicine.
