Overview
About Me
Today, I'm based in Saint Petersburg, where I'm studying at university and exploring life in this beautiful city.
I can't imagine my life without traveling. For me, this is a way to see the world, not through TV and phone, but for real. Whenever I travel, I always try to make new friends — perhaps it will be you ;)
The purpose of my current trip is to practice spoken English. At the end of the summer, I have a difficult English exam for admission to a PhD program. Therefore, I will be happy to meet you and talk about anything!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
This is a wonderful way to meet fantastic people and the opportunity to learn something new.
Interests
🔸I hitchhiked more than 50k kilometers. I often go hiking in the mountains: Carpathians, Caucasus, Khibiny, Aragatsky Range.
🔸I love playing the guitar and have been doing it for over 10 years.
🔸My first major was geology. I also worked a lot as a geologist. So I can talk endlessly about the hard-to-reach places of Russia, where it is easier to meet a bear than a human and where the winter temperature drops to -50.
🔸Currently, I work in IT (software development, machine learning and technical vision in medicine and chemistry).

Music, Movies, and Books
🎧 Music:
I enjoy rock and folk music.
📖 Books:
I mostly read Russian and Ukrainian authors. Among English favorites: "Dandelion Wine" and other works by Ray Bradbury.
🎥 Cinema:
Recently, I made a list of classic films to watch — and through it, I discovered the depth and charm of Soviet and foreign cinema classics.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
There are 300 kilometers between Naryan-Mar and Ust-Tsilma. There’s no road between them — only a river that freezes over in winter. I crossed this distance on foot and by hitchhiking on passing snowmobiles.
Teach, Learn, Share
If you have a guitar, I can show you a few tricks — or even teach you a song or two! :)
And if we have enough free time (and you're brave enough), I can teach you how to cook borscht or some other traditional Ukrainian/Russian dishes.
