About Me

I am an International Relations undergraduate student in Istanbul, Turkey.

My utmost passion is traveling. But not in the manner of seeing random sculptures and ancient stones in museums; I address traveling as obtaining new warm relations and friendships all across my way. I love listening to interesting stories and trying to look at the world from different aspects. Gaining new perspectives always enriches my calm life.

On the other hand, I can also describe myself as very energetic and enterpriser person. I get on well with most of the characteristic types of people.

My most desired thing is to bring precious memories to my future, oldest version of myself.

I love to talk about Turkish politics, history, sociology, and traditions with people who wish to find out more. For those who are eager to have a new friend from Turkey and be guided by a local while walking around Istanbul, don’t hesitate to say hi to me!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am eager to acquire the very valuable perspective of the people around the world. It’s really prominent and elegant thing to me to exchange our life visions.
I especially love knowledgeable, wise people and the people who has tight bonds to idealistic and positive philosophy, I am willing to have a good conversation and communication with them.
But not only long and boring “wise” stuff. I love talk about random things, make humor and somethimes making garbage talks. To conclude, I just love chatting in both ways.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a vinyl collection that contains french romantic music, some 45’s of Frank Sinatra, Charles Aznavour, etc. To be honest, I listen them so rarely. They start to be boring when i listen them so frequently.
Well, I like romantic, anatolian rock, pop music of Turkish of 1980’s, 1990’s, such as Sezen Aksu, Erkin Koray, Cem Karaca and for 2000’s and 2010’s, Şebnem Ferah and maNga is my favourite.
Also I love the music of Metallica, Nirvana, Queen(my fav nowadays), Abba, the Smiths, Joan Baez, rarely Bob Dylon.

Indeed, i especially love songs that has a meaningful story behind. There are too many of them in Turkish music. Especially for folk music, nearly each one of them has a unique story carrying behind.
My portfolio is huge, I listen so many songs by different genres.

Note: The best gift for me is the vinyl record of favourite singer of you!!!!!!

I also love watching series. My favourites are:

SHERLOCK (bbc version)
Brooklyn 99
Afterlife

For books, I try to improve myself in politics and economy, for people like me, i recommend “Why Nations Fail” by Daron Acemoğlu.

For poetry and literature(my knowledge is restricted with only turkish literature), my favourite poet is Ahmed Arif.
Also, my favourite novelist is Oğuz Atay who writes surrealistic novels that contains stream of cosciousness technique.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I had an intern in biochemistry and today majoring on International Relations

+I made lasagna from a to z. It was one of the most challenging things in my life

Teach, Learn, Share

My motivation is discovering new places, living in new cultures, acquiring them, being part of it. Seeing the formations of lifes across the globe, without having a former friend or any connection from there, lonely. It must be struggling but amazing. I think it’s the best and most important life experience of a person may ever have.

I see travelling as a long-term meditation. So, i’d like to be a part of that long meditation and the most prominent experience of any person can ever have. I want to be a part of it, to be lost in random street, to be amazed in front of historical buildings i see. I want to help people has dreams just like mine.

There is a adage in Turkish -idk if its international- “new language, new personality” (approx. translate). I am giving huge importance to be able to read and think in as many languages as I can learn. I AM LEARNING FRENCH, as being my third language after turkish and english. I love french language and practing in long term.

Not only new language, in my casual life, I try to learn new things everyday. Of course, we’re not programmed robots or npc’s lol, we cannot be perfect but I want to not to spend any day without having a new experience.
