About Me
Hello! 👋
I'm Annemarie, nice to meet you :)
First of all, I do live with my dad and therefore am not able to host anyone. I'd love to when owning a place for myself!
With that out of the place, on to the introduction!
Travel has always been an important part of my life. I haven't got the opportunity to do so before 2022. And boy, what do I like about this feeling of discovering the world, meeting its people and being alive. My favourite way of travel is hitchhiking. My absolute favourite way is just to stand along the road with a whiteboard "surprise me :D" on it.
I slept on more couches than just the ones referenced on this app. Around 20 more by standing on the road with the question if the driver knew a place to sleep. Most of them offered their house! Some of the best stories to tell made by these moments :)
I'm a chef in my daily life. Currently I've taken a step back to the huge amount of stress the hospitality branch brings with it. Being someone with stress related epilepsy doesn't make it easier at all haha. However, cooking is still a major passion of mine. Seeing people happy with expressions of joy and satisfaction is the best reward you can earn. No need to be the greatest or fanciest for that, just a simple or heartwarming dish with the experimental touch of Ann :)
Hence the "wandering chef". Traveling around with the intention to learn about culture, people and above all food. It'll all be collected in a cookbook! :D
Also planning on writing a book based upon the adventures of a hitchhiker. Fantasy themed :)
Little peek of my personality:
Adventurous,
Always seeking the edge,
Happy and always try to find the positives of negative things.
Bubbly and enthusiastic,
Helpfull,
Foodie :)
However, usually I'm quite calm. Being energetic and enthusiastic is exhausting after a while haha 🙈
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'd like my travels be more meaningful than just 'be somewhere'. Sharing experiences and moments are much more of value to me. I've tried hostels but that's not my thing really. The bestest of friends or experiences are made with the locals I've discovered.

Music? Country, folk, Irish, Scottish, Pagan, indie, 60/70/90s and all possible music genres within these kinds (Irish/punk or Scottish/rock i.e)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Dropped off on a uninhabited Finnish island and survive 10 days (ref: expeditie Robinson)
Won a cooking competition with just two months of professional experience vs candidates who had at least 3 years.
Hitchhiking ;)
Teach, Learn, Share
Life is all about ups and downs. Just like a heartbeat, without a beat you're considered dead.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Anything honestly. I'd like to go out outdoors and see the world. Just driving around for fun, looking for hidden gems as a plus. Oeh looking for laughs? teaching me new skills, doing something ridiculous or extreme, have a fun (tabletop) game night or anything where the enthusiasm can shine through :)
And yes of course I'd like to make you a meal 😄
