Overview
About Me
Hey! I’m Hasan, an electrical engineering student at ISTANBUL TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY (itü) and living in Istanbul. Before this, I studied medicine for two years, but I realized it wasn’t the right path for me and decided to follow a direction that fits me better.
I’m 22 years old. In my native language I’m very talkative, but in English I’m still building my confidence — I can communicate well, but deep conversations can sometimes be challenging. It’s nothing I can’t overcome though; I’m good at pushing through difficulties.
I smoke, but I’m not the type to get restless if I don’t. When it comes to alcohol, I’m a social drinker. I really enjoy walking, especially when exploring a new city — it’s my favorite way to get a real feel for a place.
I adapt easily to different environments and people. I like animals, and I love trying new foods and new places whenever I travel
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I’m here because I really enjoy meeting new people and experiencing life from different perspectives. I like discovering places not just as a tourist, but through the people who live there. New experiences, new stories, and new friendships are a big part of why I travel.
Of course, traveling on a student budget also means being smart with money, and Couchsurfing helps make that possible. But for me, it’s not only about saving money — it’s about having a more real, human connection instead of staying somewhere anonymous.
I also enjoy sharing cultures, talking about films, playing games, or even exploring the city together if my host is up for it. I think some of the best travel memories come from moments you don’t plan, and Couchsurfing is perfect for that.
Interests
I love traveling, especially during summer. Hitchhiking and camping are my favorite ways to experience the world — so far, I’ve hitchhiked around 3000 kilometers.
Movies are a big part of my life. My favorite films are Pulp Fiction, Babylon, and The Grand Budapest Hotel, and my favorite directors are Gaspar Noé, Wes Anderson, and Nuri Bilge Ceylan.
I also enjoy cycling and playing board games. Games like The Resistance and Secret Hitler are my go-to picks with friends. Recently, I’ve started getting into American college football and Dungeons & Dragons, and I’m having a lot of fun learning both.

Music, Movies, and Books
music: tame impala-daft punk-deftones-radiohead and turkish rap and turkish alternative rock
books: Even though I haven’t been reading as much in the last two years, I still enjoy Turkish literature. Writers like Orhan Pamuk, Emrah Serbes, and Oğuz Atay are the ones I keep coming back to.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I survived six days alone on the Lycian Way, a long mountain trail in southern Türkiye. I carried everything I needed, camped on my own, and managed the whole route without support. I’ve also traveled thousands of kilometers by hitchhiking, which has given me some of my most unforgettable experiences.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can share parts of my culture, our traditions, and the way we live. I’m also a good listener — I enjoy hearing people’s stories and learning from them. I understand things quickly, so anything you teach me, I’ll pick up fast.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can offer a spacious room, a traditional home-cooked meal, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. I like creating a calm environment where guests can feel comfortable, relax, and feel at home after a long day of travel.
